That's brutal from Novak Djokovic. Four games as good as you'll see.

He was 0-40 down at 2-2 in that set and from there he played other-worldly tennis to take the set without dropping a game.

You have got to love the intensity you see from Djokovic. It is helping bring him back to the level we saw from him a couple of years ago.

Tired Kei Nishikori is back. He can rally with Novak Djokovic but can't get the ball through him right now. The Japanese player is stranded at the back of the court while Novak is prowling around all over the grass, gobbling up everything that comes his way.

    Here are two set points...

    Federer 6-2 7-6 (7-5) 5-4 Anderson*

Kevin Anderson finds himself serving to stay in the championships.

Roger Federer rattles in two fantastic returns, but after taking the first point he cracks the tape with an attempted passing backhand.

The Swiss slices the next into the ropes, too, and a forehand follows it in off a punchy Anderson serve. That's better from the top seed, flicking a cross-court winner and then beating the outstretched Anderson at the net.

    Deuce.

Roger Federer has a 75% first serve success rate today. That explains why he is winning his service game so easily. He is saving a lot of energy with that. It is incredible repetition. He gets a routine game with it. He is very smart with it.

Novak Djokovic is right at the top of his game now. Drop shots, backhands and serves see him hold to love. He's shouting after every point now. He wants Kei Nishikori to know he's there.

Fantastic passing shot from Kevin Anderson on the run, the South African is making the eight-time champion work for this.

Roger Federer responds with a superb slice, only to then shank a forehand well long from centre court.

A meaty serve sees the world number two hold. Here's how he took the second set...

Who is starting to think these matches on Centre aren't going to be done by the time the football starts tonight? Nishikori and Djokovic have been out there almost two hours for two and a half sets now and Nadal and DelPo are still to come.

You get the feel that Anderson is more comfortable at the base of the court now and is making Federer run a bit more. The first set was different.

    *Federer 6-2 7-6 (7-5) 4-4 Anderson

An hour and three quarters into this last-eight clash - who's going to make the first move in the third set?

Roger Federer just isn't hitting forehands like you expect him to, they're coming off the strings with varied success and Kevin Anderson capitalises with a pacy winner down the line.

Federer gets another challenge right to get on the board, a baseline stroke just clipping the line, and now the forehand starts working! A darting effort that barely got off the turf as the swinging Swiss skipped in to meet a short ball.

Anderson responds with some deep, lunging efforts of his own to hold.

    Federer 6-2 7-6 (7-5) 4-3 Anderson*

    Boris Becker
Three-time Wimbledon champion on BBC TV

You have to understand Anderson is still a student of the game. He improves each year in areas where he is not so good. Not only to improve the serve but to change up the areas in which you serve otherwise you become too predictable.

"This is ridiculous," says Andrew Castle as Djokovic bounces the ball for an age again before serving, taking almost 30 seconds between points.

He waves his fist to his box as he holds.

    Federer 6-2 7-6 (7-5) 4-3 Anderson*

Kevin Anderson looms like a giant at the other end of the court... he's one stride from any Roger Federer baseline stroke.

Federer challenges a ball called long, and gets it right... that'll be replayed, and this time the Swiss polishes off with a swagger into the net and volleyed winner.

    He holds to love.
