Rafael Nadal is just a grunting wall. The ball just keeps coming back to Juan Martin del Potro's side of the net. There's not a lot more the Argentine can do.
With a flash of his yellow and black racquet Nadal takes a 3-2 lead in the second set.

Dave W: Anderson winning service games because he is tall. Federer winning his because he is brilliant. Eventually RF will have a bad game but Anderson won't get any shorter.

It's Monday morning, England have won the World Cup and Gareth Southgate has been given a knighthood - Roger Federer and Kevin Anderson are still playing the fifth set of their Wimbledon quarter-final.
The Swiss moves to an 11-10 lead with a meaty serve down the T. And we're past the four-hour mark.

That'll give Juan Martin del Potro a little boost. He holds serve to 15 and Nadal misses a couple of returns.
Unlike on Court One, the crowd can't quite decide which player to back on Centre Court. It's very polite for both players.

Lindsay: They need to wrap this up soon as I’ve got to get to work!
David: Come on Roger Federer, if you can finish this off now, I’d be very grateful. We’ve got a football match to go and watch.
Rose: This Federer-Anderson match taking so long. I can't get to watch my Nadal-Delpo in peace.

Nadal is looking so secure on serve here on Centre Court. Completely unflustered. He wins the game, takes a seat in his chair and munches on a snack. No problems for the Spaniard so far. He's proving to be just a little bit better than Del Potro.

New balls for Fed, and he puts them to good use with some wrist-rattling serves.
Anderson manages to engage the Swiss at 30-0 but can only pop an awkward forehand into the tape, and then yanks another well long.
Someone in the crowd is hysterical. Chants of "let's go Roger" ring out.
We're into double figures.

Well, I thought my nerves might be in tatters at some point today, didn't expect it to be because of the tennis...
Deciding set, 9-8. NINE-EIGHT. Phew.
Kevin Anderson rattles down an ace, he's seen more of those today than a Vegas casino - 26 to be precise.
The South African hammers his way to another hold.

It's often difficult to tell how Juan Martin del Potro is feeling. He's got a languid heavy-footed walk at the best of times. He heaves his big size 12s into position between points here but gets through the game comfortably.

Lovely stuff from Roger Federer, working Kevin Anderson around the court and clipping in a well-timed volley.
"We need to watch the football," shouts one fan... well.
The Swiss eases to a 40-0, before watching an Anderson winner soar past him. It rattles the 36-year-old slightly, he drags the next forehand into the tramlines.
Anderson thinks he's chipped in a superb winner from a tight angle, but it's just wide!
