    Murray 6-1 6-3 Wawrinka

When asked if he had decided to play at Wimbledon, having beaten Stan Wawrinka in straight sets, Andy Murray remained coy.

He told broadcaster Amazon Prime: "I am going to decide nearer the time. I need to see how my body pulls up. I'll see how I am tomorrow and take it from there."

Not giving much away there, then.

Elsewhere, at the Wimbledon qualifying event British players enjoyed a day of mixed fortunes in the first round of matches.

  7. 'First set good, second patchy'published at 19:01 British Summer Time 25 June 2018

    Murray 6-1 6-3 Wawrinka

Andy Murray, speaking courtside after his win over Stan Wawrinka said: "Obviously I am very happy to get the win. I thought the first set I played well, but the second set was patchy and I was a bit nervous.

"When you haven't played for the best part of a year, when you face someone like Stan it is tough. But obviously I am delighted to get the win.

"I was saying to my team before the draw I have no ranking now after Wimbledon so I wouldn't be on the computer. So I look at someone like Juan Martin del Potro and he has had some tough draws coming back form injury. You have to accept it and hopefully start winning some of those matches."

  8. 'Terrific performance from Murray'published at 18:55 British Summer Time 25 June 2018

Murray has played an outstanding match with all his grass-court guile to the fore. He's played much better than Wawrinka and barely made any errors.

It was a terrific performance and now we look forward on Wednesday to Andy Murray v Kyle Edmund.

He deserves his win. He's had some miserable times away from the court.

A fourth break point chance for Stan Wawrinka but in a poker face defensive rally the Swiss is a little more impatient and overhits a return.

Former British number one Tim Henman says he is a little surprised Andy Murray is back playing having seen him at close quarters in the past few weeks.

"If you had said to me five weeks ago that he would have been playing the grass court season then I would have said that it is highly unlikely," Henman said in an interview with The Scotsman.

"I have seen a fair amount of him at Wimbledon, where he has been training, and it was hard. He was making really slow progress but it was great to see him back out on court. This is genuinely just a stepping stone and an opportunity to be on the match court and build up"

The young ball boy given a ticking off earlier does not need to be told twice and he has Andy Murray's towel ready quicker than an attentive assistant at Turkish bath this time round.

Murray backs up the break with a hold of serve - winning one point at 15-30 with a breathtaking lob he had no right to get to - although he is taken to deuce by Stan Wawrinka this time.

The former British number one wins his seventh point at the net before Wawrinka can only strike his serve low into the net.

  20. Murray's cat and mouse gamepublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 25 June 2018

    Simon Briggs
Daily Telegraph tennis correspondent on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Murray seems to be playing cat and mouse with Wawrinka, moving him around and keeping him off balance.

He's not hitting many winners, but he's happy to work Wawrinka around in the belief that the errors will come from Wawrinka sooner rather than later.
