Andy Murray's comeback last week was encouraging in a tennis sense but physically perhaps less so.

It became a long and gruelling match and there was some high-octane play from Nick Kyrgios and Murray did start to limp.

But he explained later that he hadn't practised for more than 90 minutes at that point and so his body began to give up and maybe it was just fatigue.

There are some pleasant places to watch tennis around the world, but for the British fan this is about as quintessential as it gets outside of Wimbledon.

Sun shining, seagulls screeching, strawberries sunk.

Interesting choice of music to welcome both players onto court

Van Halen’s Jump blasted out as Wawrinka wandered out, followed by something that sounded suspiciously like Motorhead (although I’m not sure) for Murray.

Not sure what tunes Andy likes but I doubt he requested that...

A few rallies in a solid first service game from Andy Murray, who seems to be moving freely around the court. At 40-30 the Scot advances to the net and takes the game with a backhand volley.

Andy Murray's mother Judy has been impressed with how sharp her son has looked following his recent return from nearly a year out with a hip injury.

"He's looking for matches," she told the Brighton Argus. "He played at Queen's last week but apart from that he hadn't played in 11 months so he needs to build up his match fitness and test himself out in match conditions.

"He was really quite outstanding at Queen's. It was amazing how he competed after 11 months of inactivity. Having the opportunity to play at Eastbourne is all just part of his road to recovery."
