    Sharapova 6-0 3-0 Dart*

Maria Sharapova is in a pretty ruthless mood, but she'll want to eradicate these double faults from her game as she moves into the latter rounds.

One gives Harriet Dart a bit of confidence at 30-30, but the Briton fires wide after an exhausting rally and slams her racquet down in disgust at that miss.

Sharapova latches on to a high ball to volley beyond the frustrated qualifier and hold serve.

I don't feel like the performance of Dart is embarrassing in any way - unfortunately for her Sharapova is right on it.

Harriet Dart just can't quite get to grips with Maria Sharapova out on Rod Laver Arena.

The 22-year-old tries to mix up her groundstrokes, but a slice is so undercooked it comes off her strings as blue as Sharapova's dress and flops into the bottom of the net.

Better from Dart as she gets the Russian pedalling across the baseline - 40-30.

Sharapova always comes out and starts matches really well. She is staying very aggressive and making a statement in the very beginning. And Dart hasn't been able to make any adjustment to that.
