First-round opponents don't come much bigger than Maria Sharapova on Rod Laver Arena, but that's the task facing British qualifier Harriet Dart.

The 22-year-old landed the plum draw at only her second Grand Slam, having gone out in the first round at Wimbledon last year.

"Sharapova has been my idol since I was very little," said Dart.

"She always looked so nice when she was playing, and also the way she holds herself on the court, her presence.

"She has been so successful in the game. I have always looked up to her, and it will be pretty cool to play her."

But to kick things off we have three British women hoping to write their own headlines at Melbourne Park....
