A few whistles from the Laver crowd as Tsitsipas changes his trainers. Nadal jogs on his toes behind the baseline.

The cynic in me might wonder if that is a tactic to stall Nadal's momentum. I'm sure it isn't...

Another service game to love from Nadal. Another game won. Another one closer to the first set.

    Stefanos Tsitsipas 2-3 Rafael Nadal*

The backhand of Stefanos Tsitsipas is getting a workout today and Nadal then attacks down the line, Tsitsipas can only just get to it, and attempts a lob shot but there is too much juice on it and it goes long. (30-0)

A lovely backhand down the line from Stefanos Tsitsipas helps him hold his serve. Beautiful shot. No sign of panic from the Greek, but Nadal, remember, has the crucial break.

It's very interesting to be in our position because you can see the different spin to the ball.

With Nadal it's about not to deliver a flat serve. As you can see, Nadal's serve has plenty of spin on it and it's difficult for Tsitsipas to return.

  8. 'A fair split'published at 09:03 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2019

Although there are many Greek fans inside Laver, it is a fair split in terms of the support. It is Rafa after all.

Loud whoops when he clinched that break with another forehand down the line. That shot has been smoking for the Spaniard this fortnight.

Nadal showing why he did not lose his serve, not even once, in his past three matches. It is just too good. A backhand return misses from Tsitsipas and that is a love hold.

A half-chance for Tsitsipas at 15-30, but as quickly as as the opportunity comes, it then vanishes. An unforced error when Tsitsipas pulls a forehand too far wide and that is 1-1.

    Stefanos Tsitsipas 1-0 Rafael Nadal*

A fine early rally, with Tsitsipas on the defensive with a number of backhand returns, but the Spaniard then is just off target with a drop shot at the net.

A sweeping forehand is called out, Nadal disagrees but the original call was correct. Early hope for the underdog. (15-30)

Tsitsipas looks calm and collected - he's moving between points which means he's keeping active.

    He's also rushing Nadal already.

Tsitsipas gets the first couple of points on the board, then he goes on the attack, charging into the net and forcing Nadal to go long. The Spaniard can then only send a return into the top of the net and a nerve-settling early hold from the Greek.
