Konta opts to play with depth and it works well as Vekic is caught off guard and hits a forehand into the net.
But Vekic recovers and hits a cross-court winner. This is some duel, but there are very few people there to see it. The crowd is looking a bit sparse on Suzanne-Lenglen.

This impressive run at the French Open hasn't come out of nowhere for Konta.
She had a superb clay-court season, reaching WTA finals in Morocco and Rome.
In the first three rounds at Roland Garros, Konta eased past German qualifier Antonia Lottner, then overcame sickness to beat American Lauren Davis before thrashing Slovakia's Viktoria Kumova.
"There is definitely a habitual part of winning," Konta said.
"If you get the chance to win matches back to back you are able to draw a lot of things a little easier than if you haven't had that. I think you trust yourself a bit easier.
"Like I have said over the last number of weeks, I have never doubted my form on clay."

That drop shot has been effective for Jo Konta this season at times, but it is choosing when to use it and that was the wrong time. It will take practice to work out when to use it, but it is not a bad tactic against Donna Vekic, whose movement is not the best.

A double fault lets Konta into the game. Then the Brit comes out on top of a 14-shot rally, running forward for a drop shot before closing the point out with a smash. Three break points.

Roland Garros is not the only event going on in the neighbourhood.
This corner of Paris, about five kilometres south west of the Champs-Elysees, is a real sporting hub.
A whack of a tennis ball away from Roland Garros are two other iconic Paris sporting venues.
On the right is the Parc des Princes, home of Paris St-Germain and one of the host venues of the upcoming Women's World Cup.
On the left is Stade Jean-Bouin, the home of Stade Francais rugby union club and where the Paris Sevens are taking place today.

But Konta is confident that she can be one of the last two standing on finals weekend.
The British number one says she always believes she can stay "until the very end" at a Grand Slam.
Konta has already made history with this run. She is the first British woman to reach the French Open last 16 since 1983.
"I have been in two Grand Slam semi-finals, so I know the feeling of wanting to go a step further," she said.

Neither will be an easy opponent... Stephens reached the final at Roland Garros last year, while Muguruza was crowned champion in 2016.
Konta and Vekic are good friends off the court and there's little to separate them on it.
The 28-year-old Brit is seeded 26th, while 22-year-old Croat Vekic is 23rd. Neither of them have ever got this far at the French Open before.
But the friendship won't be on Konta's mind once she steps out onto the clay.
"We have practised together quite a few times, she's probably one of the girls I know more on tour," she said.
"But you put that behind you when you go on court."
