    Djokovic 2-1 Kohlschreiber*

Novak Djokovic takes this one on at the net, nonchalantly slapping it around like a game of beach tennis, volleying one way and then the next to work his opponent around court before holding to love.

  2. Khachanov finding it tough goingpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

Quite a first-set tussle going on down on Court 18, where Russian 10th seed, Karen Khachanov and South Korea's Soonwoo Kwon are into a tie-break. They are trading aces, double-faults and big winners at quite a pace. Plenty of mistakes being made too.

    Halep 1-0 Sasnovich*

Aliaksandra Sasnovich beat Petra Kvitova at last year's Wimbledon en route to the fourth round - her best Grand Slam performance to date.

However, she hasn't made the best start to this year's campaign - broken by the ex-numero uno Halep.

BTW, it looks like the groundsperson had fun on Court One.

    Boris Becker
Three-time Wimbledon champion on BBC TV

Novak Djokovic and Philipp Kohlschreiber have history, they've played 12 times and Philipp got the better of Novak in March this year.

Philipp is a real professional, he's a good sportsman and I'm happy to see him playing so well.

    Djokovic 0-1 Kohlschreiber*

Pick that one out. Philipp Kohlschreiber comes dashing to the net, but Novak Djokovic winds up a backhand and sends it beyond his opponent.

    Break back point.

    Djokovic 0-1 Kohlschreiber*

Well, Novak looks angry... he top-spins his way to 0-30 on the Kohlschreiber serve before batting a backhand long. The German then nails down a leaping serve to level it up.

  14. 'Federer in form'published at 13:09 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Boris Becker
Three-time Wimbledon champion on BBC TV

I would never go against the defending champion, so I would put Djokovic up there.

But I like Roger Federer, he's done the clay courts this year, he already won in Miami, and I don't believe his age because he moves around like a teenager

But I want new face to come through, we love watching these veterans of the game but it would be nice to see new faces in the second week - in both draws.

  15. Can Kohlschreiber spring a surprise?published at 13:08 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Djokovic v Kohlschreiber

    Philipp KohlschreiberImage source, Getty Images

Philipp Kohlschreiber is no stranger to SW19, with this his 15th consecutive appearance at Wimbledon. The German is looking to reach the second round for the seventh time.

The world number 57's best showing was a run to the quarter-finals in 2012, where he fell to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

He has actually beaten Novak Djokovic already this year - at Indian Wells in March - but the world number one boasts a 10-2 head-to-head record against 35-year-old Kohlschreiber.

And will his name be added onto this one - just down a gangway in the bowels of Centre Court behind the baseline opposite the Royal Box - for a fifth time?

Those questions will be answered in 14 days. And they might even be answered later today - if the top seed is on the end of an almighty shock against German world number 57 Philipp Kohlschreiber.

  20. 'Question marks over Djokovic'published at 13:04 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Boris Becker
Three-time Wimbledon champion on BBC TV

There's a bit of a question mark over Novak Djokovic's head, this is a tough match and he hasn't played on the grass courts yet.

Against Dominic Thiem on the clay he was nervous - but he's had a couple of weeks off to regroup and the memories of last year will be back.
