    Clarke 6-4 5-7 6-4 4-3 Rubin*

Jay Clarke is set to go where only fellow Britons Heather Watson, Kyle Edmund, Jo Konta, Dan Evans, Cameron Norrie and Harriet Dart have gone before - round two of Wimbledon 2019.

He's 2-1 up in sets and a break up against American Noah Rubin on court eight.

  2. Serena in the arenapublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Williams 0-0 Gatto-Monticone

A quick fashion watch, and Serena Williams is keeping it pretty low-key with a traditional tennis dress, given a twist with a cut out section on the waist.

Italian qualifier Giulia Gatto-Monticone is accessorising with some heavy strapping on her right knee.

Williams has only ever lost one first-round Grand Slam match. Gatto-Montincone has lost in the first round of her only other Grand Slam match.

This is surely only going one way. Serena to serve.

    The first is saved.

The Japanese player then whips a flat forehand winner.

    And Nadal then goes long.

    No!!!!

The third seed challenges the umpire's call and the computer says, "Fair play Rafa".

Sugita then goes long and balance is restored in the tennis world order.

  4. 'He kept me nervous for a set and a half'published at 16:47 British Summer Time 2 July 2019

    Harris 6-3 1-6 2-6 2-6 Federer

Roger Federer, speaking to BBC TV, said: "Every match has to be played. Just because I've had good results in the past doesn't mean you're going to keep producing it.

"I struggled a bit earlier on, was a bit frozen, and things happened really quickly. He did very well and kept me nervous for a set and a half then I got into the match and things started to change. It took a big effort and I thought Lloyd played a good match.

"Mentally I knew there was still a long way to go for my opponent and experience kicks in. I really had time to figure out and manage the nerves and that took a set but credit to him for swinging big.

"I love this court that's why I'm disappointed I couldn't play that well in the first set."

    Nadal 1-2 Sugita*

    Nadal finally wakes up.

He serves two aces, holds serve, glances towards his team, marches off to his chair and lights a cigar (he didn't actually do that).

    Standard.

    Another break avoided.

Still, Harris has a great story to tell his grandchildren in 50 years' time. "Did I ever tell you about the time I won my first ever set at Wimbledon, on Centre Court, against Roger Federer? Yes, granddad. Yes you did."
