Coco Gauff. Headline maker, teenage sensation and 2019 US Open wildcard.

The 15-year-old’s phenomenal run at Wimbledon bumped her into the world's top 140, and she was handed a wildcard for this competition.

She reached the fourth round at SW19 and became the youngest woman to reach the second week since Jennifer Capriati in 1991.

She told the BBC it was “definitely the best week of my life”.

Can she go one better at Flushing Meadows?

Her opponent comes in the form of 18-year-old Russian Anastasia Potapova, ranked 72 in the world.

    Halep 6-3 3-6 6-2 Gibbs

Wimbledon champion Simona Halep, after beating American Nicole Gibbs 6-3 3-6 6-2: "I didn't feel like I played against an American today because of you [crowd's support]. I felt I could fight again.

"She started to play much better in the second set. My energy was lower and I was dominated a little bit. I refreshed my mind and tried to push her a bit more. She played really well.

"It is not easy. Every Grand Slam is tough. I am really happy that in the third time, I was able to get past the first round. I have lost the last two years here!"
