  1. Will Murray play singles?published at 19:31 British Summer Time 20 June 2019

It's early days but Andy won't decide to come back into singles unless he felt he'd be in contention.

He won't want to play unless he can get back to a very high level and he's pain-free.

You know it is a big deal when people are waiting outside the gates with a homemade sign begging for tickets.

This is Byron Gay from Swindon, who was loitering around outside Baron's Court tube station earlier.

He was there in the hope of snaffling a piece of paper which would guarantee his entry Willy Wonka-style.

"This is a very limp sign which took me about two minutes to make. But I hope it works because my father is on his way from Swindon and I want to get him a ticket too," he says.

"If we get to see Andy's comeback then it'd be fantastic. I never thought I'd see him on a tennis court. I'm hopeful we will get to see it."

It's early to have surgery at 32 and it's great to see Andy Murray back.

The sheer will-power and level of excellence he brought, we all missed watching it.

It's so nice seeing someone back playing the sport they love.

    Cabal*/Farah 5-5 Lopez/Murray

Lopez repays the favour by hitting the ball at Cabal's feet.

Farah can't reach the Spaniard's next serve, then Murray chases a ball that goes over his head. He reaches it, but Lopez hits his next shot into the net.

The door is ajar for the Colombians at 30-30, but top serving from Lopez slams it shut.

    Another hold. Tie-break incoming?

What do you get when a cut-out face mask of Britain's most famous tennis player is stuck on a shop-front dummy?

    A MURRAY-QUIN!

Sorry, it's the best I've got.

Thankfully the staff in the Queen's souvenir store are more creative. They've popped down the local arts and crafts centre, grabbed some red, white and blue tape, a roll of two-sided sticky tape... job's a good 'un.

Murray is left spinning by a stunning Farah serve. There wasn't much he could do about that.

The Brit then hits a ball wide at the net and Cabal smashes the ball at Lopez's feet. The Colombians hold. No breaks of serve yet.

Five months off haven't changed the noise that Murray makes when he serves. It's pretty hard to put it into writing but if you know, you know...

The former British number one serves and volleys twice to hold serve again. Lovely stuff.

Murray's still got good instincts. He leaves Cabal's return and it lands just wide.

Top work from Lopez at the net makes it 30-0.

A lot of doubles specialists will be thanking Andy Murray now. He's putting doubles on the map.

Unfortunately so many doubles matches aren't on TV. This helps their cause and they should say a nice little thank you.

Just a reminder of the huge task facing Murray.

No player has ever resumed a singles career after a hip resurfacing operation, although American doubles player Bob Bryan returned five months after the surgery in 2018.

And Murray, whose last match was a five-set defeat by Roberto Bautista Agut in the opening round of the Australian Open in January, has said he still has "quite a lot of work to do" before he can play in singles again.

A towering Farah smashes the ball down at the net and Murray cannot return Cabal's serve on the next point.

The top seeds hold. Murray to serve next.

From Murray's work at the net, you wouldn't guess he'd had a hip operation. His reactions are speedy, but Cabal's are speedier. 30-0.

Gasps from the crowd as Murray spins to hit a backhand at the net. The Brit then finds a gap out wide to win the point.

Lopez serves an ace, then Murray puts in a smash at the net and a second ace from the Spaniard wraps up the game. Simple.

This is just the first step in Andy Murray's comeback.

He has already announced that he will partner Brazilian Marcelo Melo at Eastbourne next week.

A small smattering of applause as Farah hits an unreturnable serve. The Queen's crowd aren't quite sure how to respond to anything that's not a Murray winner.

Farah challenges a line call and it turns out his serve landed in. 30-0.
