Angelique Kerber leads the head-to-head 7-4, and has won their only prior match on grass, which was the 2015 Birmingham final. Kerber needed a final-set tiebreak to win that match and claim the first grass-court title of her career.

  7. How they got herepublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 29 June 2019

Karolina Pliskova needed just 55 minutes to ease past Kiki Bertens 6-1 6-2 on Friday to reach the final.

In doing so, she preserved her record of not having dropped a set all week on the English south coast.

Angelique Kerber progressed without having to hit a ball after her Tunisian opponent Ons Jabeur withdrew from their semi-final with an ankle injury.

The German will certainly be a lot fresher than her opponent.
