  1. 'Tough for Watson to serve out'published at 15:47 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    *Ferro 5-5 Watson

    Naomi Cavaday
BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra commentator

Watson has not won in a long time and you're not going to be confident in the big moments - whether you've been out with injury or a pandemic. It'll be tough for Watson to serve out.

In terms of operating at this level, Watson hasn't been able to string it together and do it in a full match.

  2. Postpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    *Ferro 5-5 Watson

Nothing at all wrong with that game from Watson. A hold to love. We're at 45 minutes for the first set and still got a long way to go.

  3. Djokovic breakspublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    *Djokovic 6-0 2-1 Ymer

Ymer almost looks like he might be a bit nervous playing the top seed on Roland Garros' main court. Can't imagine why.

His forehand winner lands wide of the mark to give Djokovic two break points, then he slaps what should have been an open-goal backhand into the net.

The 22-year-old sits down and has a chat with himself at the change of ends. Frustrating.

    Ferro 5-4 Watson*

A backhand at the net from Watson goes long. She was one point away from serving for the first set. Now she's serving to save it.

  5. Postpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    *Ferro 4-4 Watson

But Watson can't take the opportunity. She would've been serving for the first set if she'd taken it. To deuce.

  6. Postpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    *Ferro 4-4 Watson

A fine rally, if only there were some fans to enjoy it. But it goes Watson's way with a beautiful cross-court winner for a break point. 30-40.

  7. Ymer holdspublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    *Djokovic 6-0 0-1 Ymer

Mikael Ymer has won a game!

Djokovic attempts a tricksy drop-shot at 40-15 down but it's half-hearted and doesn't find its way over the net.

Comeback? Unlikely, but this is a French Open in September so surely anything can happen.

  8. Postpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    *Ferro 4-4 Watson

Some good variety from Heather Watson as a lovely drop shot played from the baseline is far too good for Fiona Ferro, who hardly moves.

A backhand into the net from the home player followed by a forehand going long sees a hold to 15 for Watson. Four-four.

  9. 'Djokovic's ball coming back like a laser'published at 15:32 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    Djokovic 6-0 0-0 Ymer*

    Miles Maclagan
Former British Davis Cup player on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

The ball is coming off the strings so quickly from Novak Djokovic.

It looks like someone is slowing it down when Ymer is hitting it and Djokovic has all the time in the world to return it. Then suddenly they hit fast forward and Djokovic's ball comes back like a laser.

    He's in absolute control.

  10. Game and first set Djokovicpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    Djokovic 6-0 0-0 Ymer*

Djokovic has two set points after a wide backhand from world number 80 Ymer.

The top seed backs up a second serve with a booming forehand and Ymer bats the ball into the net. First set wrapped up in 20 minutes.

    Ferro 4-3 Watson*

Eight forehand winners so far from Fiona Ferro, compared to none from Heather Watson. And the strong Ferro forehand helps her hold her serve in that game.

    Thirty minutes gone. It's tight.

  12. 'A real tussle'published at 15:30 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    *Ferro 3-3 Watson

    Naomi Cavaday
BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra commentator

A real tussle this one. These players are similar ranking, both won a title this year, I still think Ferro is the favourite.

  13. Ferro breaks backpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    *Ferro 3-3 Watson

Heather Watson had to save three break points in her first service game. She's got another one to defend this time.

But a fine cross-court winner, coming into the net, from Fiona Ferro gives her the break back and we're back on serve.

  14. Djokovic gets a third breakpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    *Djokovic 5-0 Ymer

Aaaand another break for Djokovic. After a hold to love as well: brutal.

Ymer didn't help himself with another double fault but Djokovic is so in the zone there's not much the 22-year-old can really do anyway.

  15. 'I'd want to stay out in the rain'published at 15:27 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    Ferro 2-3 Watson*

    Russell Fuller
BBC tennis correspondent at Roland Garros

Heather Watson is playing nicely and has the break. If I was her I'd want to stay out there.

  16. Postpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    Ferro 2-3 Watson*

It's still raining. And we're still playing.

  17. 'Clear in what she is doing'published at 15:25 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    Ferro 2-3 Watson*

    Naomi Cavaday
BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra commentator

I'm pleased with start from Watson. Maybe the two wins she's had over Ferro this year - albeit on hard courts - might have helped. She is completely clear in what she is doing.

  18. Postpublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    Ferro 2-3 Watson*

A fist-pump from Ferro as she wins the first point of the sixth game, sweeping away a powerful forehand. 0-15.

  19. Postpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    Ferro 2-3 Watson*

    Russell Fuller
BBC tennis correspondent at Roland Garros

A heavy shower over Roland Garros at the moment, but play is continuing. There is sunshine coming through the back of my commentary box. They will be hoping to play through this.

  20. Postpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    Ferro 2-3 Watson*

A routine hold of serve from Fiona Ferro and Heather Watson has a chat with the umpire. Raining. It's a pretty bleak day in Paris.

But not heavy enough to get the players off court. We continue.
