Konta 6-2 4-4 Cirstea*
Game Konta with a glorious angled whack from the left of her court.
A confident hold, considering the fact the Romanian has stepped up.
*Konta 6-2 3-4 Cirstea
40-15 as Konta loops her forehand shot which bamboozles Cirstea like a normal human watching Christopher Nolan's latest.
40-30.
*Konta 6-2 3-4 Cirstea
Unrelated, but is it OK to dip toast in tea? Asking for a friend.
15s each btw.
*Konta 6-2 3-4 Cirstea
Cirstea's confidence levels remain high though. She's coming forward a lot more on her serves, and more importantly cutting out errors.
40-0 and then game as another Konta's forehand lands long.
That needs a spot of WD40, Jo.
Konta 6-2 3-3 Cirstea*
40-15 before a firm serve down the T is too hot for Cirstea to handle, metaphorically.
*Konta 6-2 2-3 Cirstea
Ace!!! Konta no doubt had a word with herself on the chair.
15-0.
Forehand winner, lands deep past the reach of Cirstea.
30-0.
*Konta 6-2 2-3 Cirstea
15-15.
Then 30-15 as Konta produces her 10th forehand error.
Cirstea, who seems a bit more positive now, jogs to the net to slam dunk and winner.
40-15 and then an ace from the world number 77.
The Romanian's best service game by a country mile.

It's felt like a struggle for Cirstea to win her games. She has been playing fairly well but it's a tough match-up for her against someone with a similar game but who has a bit more authority and consistency.
Konta 6-2 2-2 Cirstea*
Konta goes a gutsy glory with a fierce forehand from deep. One break point extinguished.
The second isn't though.
Ouch!
*Konta 6-2 2-1 Cirstea
Cirstea's return finds the net - a 15 on the board.
15-30.
15-40 as Konta's shot from the back lands out...

Konta's serves look shaky!
*Konta 6-2 2-1 Cirstea

Textbook.
Konta 6-2 1-1 Cirstea*

Two break points for Konta.
Konta 6-2 1-1 Cirstea*
Konta moves her opponent around in a rally and forces the error.
She wants a break before 'chairs'.
0-15.

Konta 6-2 1-1 Cirstea*
Konta takes the serve-clock to the final second - just like a Mission Impossible film... and then serves and ace!
Game.
*Konta 6-2 0-1 Cirstea
Konta's serving has improved since the opening games of the first set. Another big serve finds the sweet spot in the corner for 30-0.
Cirstea pummels down another big return which wins her a first point of the game - they do come off sometimes!!
*Konta 6-2 0-1 Cirstea
40-15 and game as Konta goes long.
Only Cirstea's second hold of the match.
Konta 6-2 0-0 Cirstea*
15-15 as Konta produces a brilliant return to get herself on the frontfoot in a mini-rally, which eventually sees the Romanian makes a mistake.

That was an excellent set from Konta. She's nailing her tactics and using the width of the court because when someone plays up as far as Cirstea you can get the ball past her and there's no way she can get it back.
She's done that brilliantly and it's been a really promising set.
Konta 6-2 Cirstea*
The 29-year-old takes the second as she stretches to deliver a double-handed backhand winner.
Konta is quite dominating yet, but it's good enough so far.
