That win over Alexander Zverev! That win over Yoshihito Nishioka! Plenty of positives for Murray to mull over on his trans-Atlantic flight back to Heathrow.

And as a sidenote, that defeat means any dreams of an all-British third round clash between Murray and Dan Evans is over.

The pair would have met in the last 32 if they both progressed today.

Evans' isn't through - but he's not out. His match against France's Corentin Moutet could not be finished earlier because of heavy rain in New York.

Felix Auger-Aliassime on closing out victory against former world number one Murray: "That's what is so different, at the back of your mind you know you're facing Andy Murray.

"Even at two sets to love you always think 'I've got to get this break or this lead' because you never know how he can start paying well and coming back.

"I was focusing on keeping my serve and getting chances on return.

"Even at the end to close it out it is not easy because he is a great champion and it is not an every day second round."

Felix Auger-Aliassime on his service game after not facing a single break point and hitting 24 aces: "It's all come together, we've been away from tennis for five months and I've been working a lot on it.

"Today I felt everything came in, everything I worked on, my rhythm, my toss, everything went well.

"Throughout the whole match, even with nerves, I was able to serve well and that was a big key."

There are massive positives for Andy. He should be immensely proud of what he's been able to show in the last few weeks. He will be very pleased that his body is coping with the loads that it has.

He's held to love in the previous two service games and FAA has another chance here after putting away a smash for 40-0... MATCH POINT.

If Tuesday's opening win against Yoshihito Nishioka was a climb over a mountain, that would have been Mont Blanc. Tonight, two days later, was Everest.

FAA to serve for the match. Murray has only won two receiving points in this set.

He has to find a way here to hold, otherwise it is goodnight.

Andy is such a good role model. He is still jumping around, he is still trying to find a way.

Murray bobs around on the baseline like Rocky Balboa coming out of his corner.

He looks as down and out as Rocky at the moment. I don't see a Hollywood comeback tonight, I'm afraid.

Another rapid hold to love from the 20-year-old Canadian - that's two in a row - one more game away from a landmark win.

One thing we know about Andy Murray is that he ain't going to throw in the towel.

The Scot is pushed to 40-30 but gets over the line thanks a neat lob and subsequent volley once he pushes up to the net.

FAA has racked up 23 aces and 46 winners. Wow.

In comparison, Murray has only managed two aces and seven winners.

Murray has not managed a single break point yet. He needs one - and needs to convert it - sharpish.

Another chance slips away though... in about 90 seconds. Three aces help FAA holds. Stunning stuff.

Murray screams in frustration as he plants a backhand return wide and that brings up a fourth chance for FAA to nab his serve again.

No get out of jail card this time for Murray. He's swimming against the tide now - without armbands.

A third break point for FAA after Murray fails to return and fails with a hopeful challenge.

He's saved another one! A caressed drop-shot is reached by FAA but it is too wide for him to turn around the net-post.

Murray looks like he is running in tar as he painfully charges to the net to reach a drop-shot. Thankfully for the bionic man it doesn't make it over.

But advantage Murray becomes deuce again after a double fault.

Murray saves one as he tries to shorten the point. What about the second? The Scot saves that too! An aggressive backhand down the line rocks FAA, who gets a racquet on the ball but can't stop it going long.

Uh oh. Another sniff here for FAA. And, again, it is a forehand winner which flashes past Murray and puts him 30-15 ahead.

That quickly becomes 40-15 and two break points when the young Canadian uses his wingspan at the net to bat away a volley...

Double faults have been a problem for FAA so far in his burgeoning career. Not today though. One creeps in here for 15-30 - only his second of the night - but he immediately wipes that out with an ace. From there it is plain sailing, Murray killing the game with a forehand into the net.
