Paul Atkinson: Fascinated by Otte's service. Such a low ball toss, then a very quick strike almost at the top of the toss. Maybe so the opponent can't see the racquet shape or angle?

Very good opening set from Sir Andrew. Moved through the gears nicely.

Nothing too demonstrative in celebration, a gentle clench of the fist to those fans sat behind him.

  3. Game and first set - Murraypublished at 19:01 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

    Otte 3-6 Murray

    That'll do nicely.

We've had British men's wins for Cameron Norrie in the first round and Dan Evans in the second round earlier today and Andy Murray has started nicely in his bid to join Evo in round three.

Set point for Murray, after an unstoppable backhand winner down the line as he steamed forwards.

You’re here for the tennis, aren’t you? Not the chat about German espionage television drama.

Murray is ticking along nicely, particularly in his service games.

A high first serve percentage is helping him win plenty of those points. Even though Otte has got Murray to 30 in the Scot’s past three service games, the home favourite’s serve has not come under serious scrutiny.

We had a problem with Hawk Eye late on Monday and they've gone AWOL again and not displaying on the screen.

It's still working apparently, but not showing up so the slow, dramatic hand-claps might not be a thing anymore for a while. And that's a bit of a shame.

Never in doubt. That's two games in a row on his serve where Murray has been at 15-30 and then the Briton has taken care of it. He's one game from the first set.

    Schwartzman 4-6 6-2 Broady

Diego Schwartzman did not like going a set down to Liam Broady.

The Argentine - ninth seed no less - has clubbed his way to take set two 6-2.

Schwartzman's nickname is 'Shorty' in Spanish. The 5ft 7in man played like a giant in that last set.

    Otte 3-4 Murray*

Murray mixes it up with an 83mph serve, but Otte spots the change of pace and dispatches it for 15-30. He was at this point in Murray's last service game, but couldn't build on it then.

On second thoughts, maybe that earlier football chant was a dig at our German friend?

Oscar Otte has a name sounding like a liberal East German poet living in Berlin, fighting for freedom from the 1980s Communist system. Yes, I watched Deutschland 83/86/89.

With his unkempt hair and overgrown beard, he looks like one too.

He’s from Cologne, actually, and a tennis player. But don’t let that spoil my figurative thoughts.

    Otte 3-4 Murray

A hold to love from Oscar Otte, but he has to break serve in one of Andy Murray's next two service games to stay in the set.

That's a good hold from Murray who raised a few blood pressures in the crowd at 15-30 and then calmed everyone down again quite quickly to consolidate that break in game five.

Game, set and match - Raducanu with her first main draw winpublished at 18:48 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

    Raducanu 7-6 (7-4) 6-0 Diatchenko

There have been a few slips and slides for the 18-year-old Raducanu, but this has been an exemplary performance.

Coach Nigel Sears looks suitably happy.

Came from behind in the first set, and has bageled Diatchenko, ranked 188 places higher than her, to book her spot in the second round.

    Simply outstanding.

A grumble from Otte as he nets. "Come on, Andy, let's go," says, er, Andy. 30-30

    Otte 2-3 Murray*

A bit of a stumble for Otte. You are not allowed to play on Centre without losing your balance at least once. It's in the rules.

Luckily, he's fine to carry on and at 15-30 on the Murray serve.

First wave of the fist to the crowd from Murray after that fizzing backhand winner in deuce.

That sparks one comedian into a rendition of ‘It’s coming home’.

Presume he means the Wimbledon title?

    Otte 2-3 Murray*

There's the first fist pump of the day for Andy Murray and it's a break for him.

Only just though, Otte's shot is called out, Otte challenges but Hawk Eye, by only millimetres, shows the call was right.
