    Djokovic 6-3 6-3 Anderson

    Chanda Rubin
American former world number six on BBC TV

His goals are to win majors, to win Grand Slams. After winning Roland Garros, he is one step closer and he has it in his sights now - he can tie with the other two all-time greats that we talk about, Federer and Nadal. He can maybe even surpass them this year. He has a lot to get re-energised about in 2021.

    Norrie beats Pouille

    Miles Maclagan
Former British Davis Cup player on BBC Two

It's very impressive. Any win in a Grand Slam is good news. He beat a player with pedigree, a former quarter-finalist.

Classic Djokovic. He was controlling everything, pulling the strings. He saw his opportunity to pounce and that's his strength - you give away just a little bit and he will recognise it and pounce.

  5. Game and second set - Djokovicpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

    Djokovic 6-3 6-3 Anderson

Djokovic has two set points but only needs one as he produces a dream return that Anderson can only limp into the net.

Just as the first set was, that one was 6-3.

Anderson has to be flawless from here, he doesn't need to do what he's just done - dragging a simple forehand into the net from close range with Djokovic nowhere.

    Djokovic 6-3 5-3 Anderson*

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

    Djokovic just hits his spots.

I would take a kid to watch and just model his game on everything he does.

Anderson challenges a call, but loses one of his three chances by getting it wrong and that gives Djokovic a hold.

  11. Djokovic gets the breakpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

    *Djokovic 6-3 4-3 Anderson

You know it's a bit special when you can lob an opponent of 6ft 8in. That's what Djokovic does though, brilliantly finding some chalk, and he has a break of serve.

He's one set up and two games away from doubling that advantage.

Djokovic with three break points, Anderson sees off one with a crouching well-cushioned volley at the net. "Great shot," says the Serb and he's right.

Anderson still trying to save two more break points though.

    Djokovic 6-3 3-3 Anderson*

Novak Djokovic is holding his serve much easier than his opponent is and this latest game causes no problems. The drop shot is always going to be a good option against an opponent so tall and wins a point, before Djokovic mixes it up with a serve right into the Anderson body.

    Murray Sharan 0-2 Cirstea*

It has been seven years since Samantha Murray Sharan was in the first round of Wimbledon, and this was probably not the start she wanted as Sorana Cirstea breaks her in her first service game.

    *Djokovic 6-3 2-3 Anderson

We're still on serve in the second set, but Djokovic does produce one of the best returns you could imagine.

He's forced so wide he's nearly in the front row, but blasts a forehand cross-court, which Anderson, using all of his 6ft 8in frame, is unable on the stretch to keep it in.

Anderson is again taken to deuce, but again survives. Djokovic is knocking on the door, but not yet.

    Djokovic 6-3 2-2 Anderson*

    Iain Carter

Wonderful dropshot, wrongfoots his opponent. Anderson knew that was a forlorn chase. Such control, deftness from Djokovic to see out the game.

    Djokovic 6-3 2-2 Anderson*

Novak Djokovic's first double fault of the match gives Anderson a glimmer of hope but a brilliant, brutal rally with both men well behind the baseline ends with a deft moment and the drop shot from the Serb is perfection.
