*Zhang 1-3 Raducanu
Great hit. Zhang moves back to game point with a nicely taken forehand.
There's no escaping Raducanu right now though. Break point number two for the Briton in this game...

Raducanu is always pumped up but it feels like she has a calmer energy today. She's taking her time between points.
*Zhang 1-3 Raducanu
Zhang rescues a break point with a backhand winner.
Now, can she get over the line and stay in touch in the first set?
Nope. Some great work around the court by Raducanu forces a fourth deuce.
*Zhang 1-3 Raducanu
Boom. A huge return from Raducanu for the first point on Zhang's serve, but the Chinese player responds with an assured hit into the corner.
The Briton threatens as she pulls to 30-30 and Zhang can't back up a lovely drop shot to seal the game. She nets. Deuce.

Emma is nodding to herself, she is very happy with that game and how she is serving.
We expected this match to be much closer than the one a few weeks ago because I think Emma has improved a lot since then.
The courts here are a little quicker which suits the Raducanu game.
*Zhang 1-3 Raducanu
A big serve gets Raducanu up and running as she looks to protect her early advantage.
This is a really impressive start. Zhang can't cope with her 18-year-old opponent yet. It's a very comfortable hold to love for Raducanu.

Just some huge hitting from Raducanu to start off this match.
Zhang 1-2 Raducanu*
Zhang needs a hold here otherwise this first set could quickly get away from her.
The 32-year-old makes a good start as she closes in for a volley for 30-0, and a fine ace wraps up a much improved second service game and gets her on the board.

I think it's really hard to call this match. Depends who gets the better start - and that's a great one for Emma.
I've played Zhang once but practised with her many times. She is a great person and one of the nicest girls on tour, she's a big hitter and got great technique.
*Zhang 0-2 Raducanu
Can Raducanu take charge of this opening set?
A backhand winner gets Zhang up and running as the world number 49 moves to 0-30, but the Briton levels things up with a volley.
Zhang goes long and it's 2-0 Raducanu at the start of this match.

Zhang Shuai chose to serve first, and it's a decision that has completely backfired.
The Chinese player nets with a forehand to lose her opening service game to love. A superb start for Emma Raducanu!

Off we go!
Zhang Shuai to serve first on court 10.
Zhang v Raducanu
China's Zhang Shuai, the 32-year-old world number 49, also came through her opening match in straight sets, seeing off American Hailey Baptiste 6-3 6-3.
She is looking to reach the third round in New York for the fourth time.
Zhang v Raducanu
Not only is Emma Raducanu a talented tennis player - she is also a talented linguist.
If you didn't know, Raducanu's mother is Chinese and the teenager says her level of spoken Mandarin is "decent".
"I can't read or write but it is great because when we're at home I can speak to my mum in Mandarin when I don't want my dad to understand," said the Brit.
"It's like our secret language!"
It also means Raducanu will be chatting to today's opponent Zhang Shuai in the language.
"We speak quite a lot in Mandarin when we see each other," she said.
"It helps because some of the Chinese players are nice and friendly and we can communicate that way."
Zhang v Raducanu
Emma Raducanu's stock continues to rise in New York but the 18-year-old is not finished yet.
"It is absolutely amazing," said Raducanu after her first-round win.
"I feel really good physically and confident in my game. I'm excited to see how far I can go.
"I think I have improved in the last few weeks. Playing at this level week in week out you adapt and if you don't you're going to lose.
"I've come quite far in maintaining the consistency of the high level and the longer points. As the weeks have gone on and I've played more matches I feel very confident in my game and taking the game to the opponent."
Zhang v Raducanu
British teenager Emma Raducanu was a break down in each set of her US Open main-draw debut but won 6-2 6-3 against experienced Swiss opponent Stefanie Vogele to continue her dream start.
After her stunning run as a wildcard at Wimbledon in July, Raducanu qualified for her first major in New York and is now the only Briton left in the women's draw.
The 18-year-old was supposed to face American 13th seed Jennifer Brady on Arthur Ashe Stadium - the world's biggest court - in her opening match, but there was a late change of plan when the Australian Open finalist withdrew because of a knee injury.
Instead she faced 128th-ranked Vogele on court 17 and, while facing an opponent with less pedigree was perhaps a piece of good fortune, she showed her ability to easily adapt to the situation.
Raducanu took her seventh match point to secure her spot in round two, where she meets China's Zhang Shuai, who beat Raducanu in San Jose in early August.

These were the scenes earlier as a clean-up operation took place to prepare the grounds for spectators.
The governors of New York and New Jersey declared a state of emergency due to the conditions and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called it a "historic weather event".
Almost all New York City subway lines have been closed, and non-emergency vehicles banned from roads. Many flights and trains out of New York and New Jersey have been suspended.

Play suspended because of rain. These are not words you would expect to hear on a court with a roof.
The severe storm affecting the north-eastern US disrupted play on Louis Armstrong Stadium on Wednesday, as water poured from the roof and interrupted the second-round match between Argentine 11th seed Diego Schwartzman and South African Kevin Anderson.
Officials tried to dry the surface with blowers and towels, but that match was eventually concluded on Arthur Ashe Stadium, with Schwartzman wrapping up a dominant 7-6 6-3 6-4 victory.
