But that is it from me for today.

Unfortunately Dan Evans' US Open is over but we'll be back tomorrow to see if British teenager Emma Raducanu can continue her stunning campaign in New York against American Shelby Rogers.

Novak Djokovic will also be aiming to keep his hopes of a calendar Grand Slam alive on Monday. It's not one to be missed.

    Catch you then!

  3. What's happened on day seven?published at 20:46 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

So, Dan Evans is out of the 2021 US Open. He gave it his all but world number two Daniil Medvedev was just too good on the day.

Medvedev will meet Dutch qualifier Botic van de Zandschulp in the quarter-finals, after he defeated 11th seed Diego Schwartzman in five sets.

Elsewhere, in the women's draw, Ukrainian fifth seed Elina Svitolina is into the last eight after beating Simona Halep in straight sets.

It'll be Angelique Kerber or Canadian teenager Leylah Fernandez for her in the quarters.

    Evans 3-6 4-6 3-6 Medvedev

Here's a bit of what Daniil Medvedev had to say following his win.

Asked about the feeling he gets at the US Open, where he reached the final in 2019, he said:

"I played a few matches after that final already. Last year when I came back, it was without the fans but there were still some goosebumps and memories.

"I just want to make it to the final again to make some more memories - and hopefully a better one [this time]."

Evans didn't do much wrong throughout the entire match. He did his best to disturb and disrupt Medvedev's rhythm, but how good was Medvedev today? He is so entertaining to watch.

Evans can only get the ball back in play and watch as Medvedev coasts in to volley home.

The stunning serving continues from the Russian who is still yet to lose a point on serve in the third set. Unreal.

He's one game away from the quarter-finals.

An important smash is good from Evans, who edges clear at 40-30. Medvedev then miscues on a smash of his own and that's job done for the Briton.

So. Good. Medvedev lures Evans in to the net with a drop shot before curving a forehand down the line - that after the Briton did very well just to deflect the ball back in play.

It's a quick turnaround from there, as the Russian rattles through three more quick points. 4-2.
