I'm not sure she needed much help yesterday, but the New York crowd are certainly enjoying Raducanu's run.

  2. Raducanu thrashes Sorribes Tormopublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

Emma Raducanu just keeps on improving - and surprising.

The British 18-year-old thrashed Spain's Sara Sorribes Tormo, ranked 41st in the world, 6-0 6-1 in a one-sided US Open encounter yesterday to extend her extraordinary overseas Grand Slam debut.

"My game is just getting better with each match," said Raducanu - the world number 150 (for now) - following her win.

"I was playing very well and I know Sara is a tough opponent so I had to be on my game and worked so hard,"

  3. Rogers up next for Raducanupublished at 18:15 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

The shocks just keep on coming at the 2021 US Open.

World number one Ashleigh Barty fell in the third round to American Shelby Rogers, who produced a superb comeback in front of a raucous New York crowd last night.

Wimbledon champion Barty held a 5-2 lead in the final set and twice served for the match, however home favourite Rogers - the world number 43 - triumphed in a tie-break to stun the top seed 6-2 1-6 7-6 (7-5).

And next she will meet British teenager Emma Raducanu, following her stunning win earlier in the day...

  4. What's happened so far on Sunday?published at 18:11 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

On Arthur Ashe, women's fifth seed Elina Svitolina has taken the first set against 12th seed Simona Halep.

Svitolina led by a break in the second, but Halep responded immediately and is back on serve at 3-3.

Meanwhile, there's an upset brewing on Louis Armstrong. Dutch qualifier Botic van de Zandschulp is two sets to the good against Argentine 11th seed Diego Schwartzman.

The winner of that one will face either Dan Evans or Daniel Medvedev.
