How important is that hold for Leylah Fernandez?

If Fernandez's legs are feeling tired she will have to shorten the points and go for it a bit more. She ripped that backhand.

    *Raducanu 6-4 1-1 Fernandez

Saved again by Leylah Fernandez, and complemented by a "come on"! This is almost an exact replica of the Canadian's opening service game in the first set.

But this time she comes through to hold, stirring up the New York crowd as she does.

Leylah Fernandez saves the first and also the second with a superb backhand down the line - that barely left the tarmac. Emma Raducanu has one more chance to break...

I think Fernandez's legs have gone. The last few matches have taken it out of her.

These double faults are proving a problem for Leylah Fernandez, she doesn't want to be handing Emma Raducanu freebies. The Canadian follows up by tickling a forehand into the tape and Raducanu has three break points.

How often have we seen Emma get to this level and run away with it? She is so hard to play against because you never have enough time.

Snappy serve from Emma Raducanu and Leylah Fernandez hooks a forehand long. The British qualifier is looking confident now and takes a quick hold to 15 to open this second set.

Finally we can take a deep breath. It was relentless hitting from both players. Fernandez is making Emma hit one extra ball but at the end of that set Emma added a bit of pace and really did start winning the points. It wasn't Fernandez gifting it to her.

Fernandez has come through so many matches in three sets. I don't think she will be too bothered.

This is an absolute stunner of a match.

Leylah Fernandez nipped off court between sets, Emma Raducanu sat on her chair taking a moment to cool down while taking on board an energy gel.

She opens the second set with her first ace of the final. That'll do nicely...
