Emma is just showing a few signs of stress. She is looking up at her box quite a bit more than she was at the start of the match.

Raducanu hasn't had a 7-5 set since the second round of qualifying. Fernandez is looking a little more comfortable on her serve but the errors are coming from her forehand.

    It has been fantastic tennis.

    *Raducanu 5-4 Fernandez

A clunky forehand from Emma Raducanu falls short but the next is just inside the baseline and forces Leylah Fernandez into an awkward response that drifts long. 15-15.

    *Raducanu 5-4 Fernandez

Oh my word. Emma Raducanu is picking her spots and thinks she has Leylah Fernandez beaten on about four occasions, but the Canadian some retrieves each one. Raducanu finally takes the point as her opponent looks for a lob and just overcooks it. Wow.

The British teenager holds, and all of a sudden is one game away from taking the opening set.

    *Raducanu 4-4 Fernandez

There's a Union Jack draped over one of the stands at Arthur Ashe, the owners are cheering as Emma Raducanu edges ahead on serve and, to be fair, they're probably also applauding a remarkably nonchalant drop shot from Leylah Fernandez that anchors down beyond the tape. 15-15.

I am in awe of both of these players. You would think they would have been here so many times before. It is not easy to do this.

    *Raducanu 4-4 Fernandez

That's loose from Leylah Fernandez, leaking a forehand a long way wide, and that's deuce.

The Canadian is right on the money off the next though, skipping around a forehand winner and then taking another huge hold. It's all square.

It looks like Fernandez is overthinking where to play her serve. Her racquet head speed is slowing down.

    Raducanu 4-3 Fernandez*

Another double fault from Leylah Fernandez, but she responds with a punchy winner. The new balls are out and Emma Raducanu almost rips the fluff off one with a fierce return that sees her opponent jab into the tape. It's blow for blow though, a deep backhand from Fernandez and that's 30-30.
