Don't want to be doom-monger during a compelling Grand Slam semi-final, but it is already hard not to think ahead to the 11pm curfew in Paris.

If the match continues at this rate, and the players cannot be separated over four sets, then it looks likely the 5,000 fans on Chatrier will be turfed off because of the national coronavirus restrictions in France.

The opening two sets took one hour and 52 minutes to complete. If another two follow the same pattern then the supporters will have to bid 'Adieu' to Chatrier and head off home.

That's what happened during Djokovic's quarter-final against Matteo Berrettini, with the decision greeted by a chorus of boos from the obstinate French crowd.

Imagine the levels of annoyance if they have to scuttle off early to watch a decider in this one at home...

Rafael Nadal has nipped off for a bathroom break. Maybe he just wanted to check in on the Euro 2020 opening game? 0-0 between Turkey and Italy, if you're wondering.

What a hard-fought set. It feels like one of the toughest sets Djokovic has had to win.

And a big serve brings up set point for the world number one.

Novak Djokovic responds with an aggressive flurry of strokes before sending Rafael Nadal the wrong way with a winning forehand. Deuce.

So close, but just wide from the defending champion. That backhand looked like it was going to kiss the chalk but falls narrowly off target. Deuce.

But he'll get another go. A backhand from Nadal catches the service line and shoots into the Djokovic's feet, meaning he can't pick it up.

Now then. A chance for Rafael Nadal to break back. He couldn't, could he?

Wow. Djokovic with a drop-shot and lob combo to get Nadal sprinting back to the baseline, but somehow the Spaniard flicks a winner beyond the world number one.

Nadal reaches his hand towards his forehead on the next though after cupping an effort into the net. 30-30.

So it's Novak Djokovic with a chance to serve for the second set and to level this semi-final.

He forces Rafael Nadal so far behind the baseline and prods away a forehand winner, but the Spaniard hits back for 15-15.

No danger of Rafael Nadal hurrying his serve. Novak Djokovic seems to have all the time in the world to size up a backhand return and ping down a superb winner.

Nadal walks on to a fierce forehand winner of his own and Djokovic then tugs one wide as the Spaniard holds.

They are both getting stressed with the serve-clock.

Every rally is brutal, long and exhausting.

The expectation from the players is that it will be put on later after a long rally.

Brilliant from Novak Djokovic, opting to send a backhand back in the direction it has just come from but with interest and a flailing Rafael Nadal can't get a string on it.

Rafael Nadal can only fire a forehand wide on the next and Djokovic takes a huge hold.

Nadal looks to switch up the rally with a backhand drop shot, but comes up short.

Djokovic can't get over the line, though, and this is now the longest game of the match at almost 10 minutes. Deuce.

The level of tennis is superb. Another gruelling rally ends with Rafael Nadal cracking a backhand into the gauze and it's deuce once more.

What a rally. Both players covering a remarkable amount of ground and playing shots from so far wide of the court, but Novak Djokovic cups perhaps the simplest shot of the lot into the tape with a mishit backhand volley. Break point Nadal.

Nadal looks to have Djokovic on the run, watching the Serb slide behind the baseline, but the defending champion leaks a backhand into the tramlines and it's deuce.

Lovely stuff under pressure from Novak Djokovic, setting up the volley and stinging down a winner to save the first break point.
