So much pace from Nadal - relentless. Popryrin is under a barrage.
Nadal 6-3 6-2 Popyrin
Ace from Rafael Nadal. Right out the heart of the racquet. And that's a two-set lead.
*Nadal 6-3 5-2 Popyrin
Back on track. Rafael Nadal wriggles into the net to take this game back to 30-30 and then unleashes a meaty forehand that the Australian can only send long. Set point for Nadal.
*Nadal 6-3 5-2 Popyrin
A corker of a forehand winner too. Ferocious. 0-30. Nadal not over the line yet in this set.
*Nadal 6-3 5-2 Popyrin
Punchy stuff from the Australian, who's showing some resilience. He rips into a backhand and Rafael Nadal can only pop it long in response. 0-15.
Skupski/Skupski 4-6 4-6 Cabal/Farah
The number two seeds are just a little too good for the British brothers as they take it in straight sets.
Still plenty of British doubles to come with Jamie Murray (with Bruno Soares) against Luke Bambridge & Dom Inglot.
*Nadal 6-3 5-2 Popyrin
Quick hold for Alexei Popyrin too, he rattled through that one. Albeit, probably delaying the inevitable... it's Rafael Nadal to serve for a two-set lead.
Nadal 6-3 5-1 Popyrin*
Not to be outdone on the ace count, Rafael Nadal wheels down a tidy effort of his own - that was like a Test bowler, middle stump. 40-0. He holds.
*Nadal 6-3 4-1 Popyrin
Ding, ding. Another ace from Alexei Popyrin and he's off the mark in the second set.
Nadal 6-3 4-0 Popyrin*
That's more like it from the Australian. An ace that licks the tee on its way through. 30-15.
Rafael Nadal is almost standing against the back wall to receive serve at the minute.
Nadal 6-3 4-0 Popyrin*
Alexei Popyrin looked lively in the first half of the first set, but it's been relatively comfortable for Rafael Nadal since then. He grunts into another winning groundstroke but then a rare moment those of us at home can relate to... a framed overhead into the net. It's a blip. He holds.
*Nadal 6-3 3-0 Popyrin
Good hustle from the Australian as he saves the first two. But the third is punched long.
Rafael Nadal takes a double break in the second set.
Nadal 6-3 2-0 Popyrin*
Wonderful forehand winner down the line from Nadal that seems to bend out of the court and back in again, just avoiding Popyrin's reach. 0-40 and three break points for the Spaniard.
Nadal 6-3 2-0 Popyrin*
It's a gruelling 19-shot rally but Rafael Nadal comes out on top and then throws down a serve-volley combo to hold, having faced a break moments ago.
*Nadal 6-3 1-0 Popyrin
Just too long!
Alexei Popyrin goes gunning for the postage stamp but just overcooks his forehand.
Rafael Nadal saves the break point. Deuce.
*Nadal 6-3 1-0 Popyrin
Nadal just seemed to suck any energy out Popyrin's chance to break back, slowing things down between serves... but, the Australian responds superbly, sending a crosscourt forehand beyond the defending champion and then meeting his drop shot with another winner.
It's a chance to break for Popyrin after all.

Fourth double fault for Nadal in his sixth service game - so that's not working as well for him as it could...
*Nadal 6-3 1-0 Popyrin
Lovely down-the-line winner. Rafael Nadal suddenly quickens the pace and changes the direction of the exchange to leave Alexei Popyrin sliding on his heels. The Spaniard scrambles back to 30-30.
*Nadal 6-3 1-0 Popyrin
That's better from the world number 63, forcing Rafael Nadal into uncomfortable shots and edging his way to 0-30. Does he sense a break back here?
