Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

Emma Raducanu has been knocking on the door with the backhand returns, and rightfully so and Van Uytvanck is still not comfortable is she - still a bit awkward with the situation.

    Struff 6-4 5-7 6-4 2-2 Alcaraz*

Blasting through the games at the moment with very little to separate the two. There's been some incredible displays of power and accuracy from both Struff and Alcaraz today. Utterly absorbing viewing.

  3. Medvedev on the grass...published at 17:12 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

Nothing was going to stop Daniil Medvedev playing on the grass during the Wimbledon fortnight...

The ATP world number one is not allowed to play at the All England Club after they banned Russian players from the tournament.

So he's swapped the tennis racquet for the golf clubs...

  4. Raducanu gets the breakpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

It's a double fault from Alison van Uytvanck!

The crowd loves it, Emma Raducanu returns to her seat with a steely gaze.

    EXCELLENT return from Emma Raducanu.

After a stormy couple of opening games, a break of serve would really bring this match to life.

    *Van Uytvanck 3-3 Raducanu

    Tracy Austin
Two-time Grand Slam champion on BBC TV

We're starting to get stuck into the match now where Emma Raducanu is not thinking about playing on Centre Court - I'm sure she was full of butterflies before the match.

It's starting to look more comfortable on both sides.

  7. Postpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    *Van Uytvanck 3-3 Raducanu

Emma Raducanu stoops down low as she powers up to batter Van Uytvanck with powerful shots. Dread to think what will happen to her knees later in life, but it does the trick on Centre Court.

The Belgian nets then bats a backhand long to bring up 0-30.

    *Van Uytvanck 3-3 Raducanu

With Andy Murray coming up on Centre Court after this, fans in the crowd aren't afraid to show their allegiance. The camera has just panned to a man in a Union Jack t-shirt and I'm pretty sure I saw someone with a flat cap in the colours of the flag.

Their allegiance is rewarded as teenager Raducanu nails another straightforward hold.

    Impressive stuff from Struff.

The German held serve to love to clinch the third set and leave fifth seed Carlos Alcaraz in an uncomfortable position - and he’s just saved a break point to stay on level terms early in the fourth.

If Alcaraz is going to make it past the first round, as he did last year, it means we’re in for a juicy five-setter on Court One. I don’t think there are many here who would complain about that!

  10. Hurkacz one game from victorypublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    *Davidovich Fokina 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 5-7 2-6 3-5 Hurkacz

Last year's semi-finalist Hubert Hurkacz needs one more game to edge his way past Spain's Alejandro Davidovich Fokina on Court Three.

  11. Raducanu rallies after injuriespublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Van Uytvanck 3-2 Raducanu*

Since her sensational US Open win, Raducanu has struggled with a string of minor injuries.

Most recently, she was robbed of grass-court preparation by a side strain that forced her to retire from her match at the Nottingham Open and pull out of the Eastbourne International.

The 19-year-old has had other mid-match retirements, one because of a blister on her hand at the Australian Open and others because of a leg injury and back issue.

Raducanu said “there were moments” in the run-up to Wimbledon when she wasn’t sure if she would recover from the side strain in time.

But, she added: "Right now I'm fit. I'm ready to go. I'm looking forward to it - that's it.”

Alison van Uytvanck has aces up her sleeve too.

Then a forehand long and a backhand return wide from Emma Raducanu puts the Brit 40-15 down.

After a brief bit of Raducanu's resistance, the Belgian's serve comes through again to secure another hold.

    Sonia Oxley

There were a lot of people queuing up to get back inside Centre Court at the first changeover - anyone who thought they could nip out for a quick refreshment didn’t factor in that the first three games might last 20 minutes!

    *Van Uytvanck 2-2 Raducanu

    Laura Robson
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think when you look at Alison van Uytvanck's results on the grass - technically she's a very good grass-court player, but standout results have been a bit up and down for her.

  15. Raducanu holdspublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    *Van Uytvanck 2-2 Raducanu

Emma Raducanu looks more energetic than opponent Alison van Uytvanck so far.

She channels that energy into a superb ace out wide that just clips the sideline before pinning Van Uytvanck back and forcing an error from the Belgian to bring up 40-15.

Another gutsy serve sees Van Uytvanck return into the net and Raducanu holds. After an epic opening two games, things have been a bit more straightforward in the last two.

  16. Game and first set Miyazakipublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

And there is the first set for Britain's Yuriko Miyazaki!

She got there in style, too, a wonderful passing shot setting up two set points, before a deep backhand wrapped it up in 48 minutes.

It is advantage Struff as the German takes the third set and leads 2-1. He played some fine tennis in that decisive game against the fifth seed, finishing with an ace to take the third set.

Remember Lukas Rosol, who blasted Rafael Nadal off the court 10 years ago in one of the biggest shocks in Wimbledon history?

The Czech, a few weeks short of his 37th birthday and now ranked 280 in the world, came through qualifying for this year's Wimbledon and threatened to dump out another seed but has just lost in five sets to Nikoloz Basilashvili.

    The Georgian 22nd seed came through 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (8-6) 3-6 6-3 6-3 on court 15.

    Davidovich Fokina 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 5-7 2-6 2-3 Hurkacz*

Over on Court Three, and for the third successive game, we have a break of serve as seventh seed Hubert Hurkacz regains control against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Hurkacz now three games from round two.

  20. Raducanu not distracted, says agentpublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Van Uytvanck 2-1 Raducanu*

Winning a Grand Slam as a teenager comes with a lot of cool invites and opportunities.

Raducanu is now a brand ambassador for nine companies, from Evian to Tiffany, and Nike to HSBC.

But her agent says these commercial interests have not been a distraction.

Max Eisenbud, who also guided the careers of Maria Sharapova and Li Na, says his company has "left million of dollars off the table" by limiting Raducanu to a maximum of 18 sponsor days a year so she can prioritise tennis.
