The quarters would be an excellent result for Andy Murray and anything beyond that would be serious gravy - but he won't probably see it like that.

James Duckworth, unsurprisingly, gets his wish.

"Ladies and gentleman, the roof will be closed," announces umpire Marija Veljkovic.

    "This will take 10 minutes."

Cue a few cheers and a few groans. You can tell which will be coming from those who need the loo and those who need to catch a Tube home.

It's been a great last two sets from Andy Murray, he raised his level in that third set. Murray has all the momentum here and he'd probably like to keep the roof open and play in these conditions because it's really bothering his opponent.

I think the question is how much of a change does it make to the match when the roof is closed?

Andy Murray is showing us some vintage shots from when he's been at his best, excellent passing shots and great movement forward.

It doesn't get any better than this.

    Murray 4-6 6-3 5-1 Duckworth*

Duckworth's chat with the official was because he wants the roof closed, probably as much to buy some time and pause Murray's momentum, but it is staying open for now.

Murray is moving really well, no sign of injury holding him back, and he is on the verge of winning his fifth game of this set but to Duckworth's credit he keeps pegging him back at deuce before eventually Murray gets the job done.

There are Brits on court all over the place, with Heather Watson out on Court One now.

Getting a bit dark on Centre Court. Might not be too far away from the roof closing and sticking the lights on.

Duckworth is having a word with an official about something, not sure if it is the light or a medical issue. Sure it's the former. We will soon find out.

Anyway, we go on. That's after Duckworth sits in his chair a moment or two longer than Murray, presumably to try to force the issue.

  11. Clarke two sets downpublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

    Clarke 6-7 (3-7) 1-6 Harrison

Britain's Jay Clarke isn't having quite as much fun as Murray over on Court 18.

The 23-year-old put up a good fight in the first set against American qualifier Chris Harrison, but is now two sets down after losing the second 6-1.

A bonus for the fans on Court One - Heather Watson's match against Tamara Korpatsch has been added to the schedule.

The roof is closing and it won't just be Centre where you can see a Brit in late-night day-one action.

The rankings suggest this will be a close one - Watson is 121st in the world and Korpatsch 110th.

What a bizarre passage of play! And the crowd on Centre Court loved it.

Firstly the underarm from Murray and then the framed attempted smash from Duckworth when the Scot tried to lob him with his next shot.

That's entertainment, as Paul Weller said.

Well was that Nick Kygrios or Andy Murray? I don't think I've ever seen him do an under-arm serve.

He's serving really well and it's not like Duckworth was standing that far back so that makes it totally inexplicable.
