    Broady 6-2 3-3 Schwartzman*

Still on serve in the second set on Court Three where Britain's Liam Broady is a set up in his bid to reach the third round of a grand slam for the first time.

World number 15 Diego Schwartzman is showing a few signs of finding his accuracy after being a bit hit and miss thus far but Broady's level remains high.

    Boulter 3-6 1-0 Pliskova*

Boulter came back from a set down to beat Pliskova at Eastbourne last week so this is far from over.

Pliskova takes the first point of the opening game of the second set but Boulter battles back to hold.

Pliskova's serve is just looking so much better than her last couple of matches.

Boulter is finding herself facing some yellow fireballs now as Pliskova's fierce serve gets her to in a strong position with three set points.

Boulter manages to get one back over but then her next return hits the net and Pliskova takes the first set.

    Boulter 3-5 Pliskova*

Better from Boulter as she holds.

A lovely forehand winner down the line at 15-15 will in particular give her some confidence as Pliskova was starting to look like she had an answer for every shot she was facing.

Pliskova, however, is serving for the first set.

    *Broady 6-2 1-2 Schwartzman

Hmm, a missed opportunity for Liam Broady perhaps.

He tees up two more break points on the Diego Schwartzman serve with some aggressive tennis plus a double fault from the Argentinian but cannot capitalise on this occasion.

A volley at the net saves one of the break points and then Broady nets a forehand before Schwartzman survives the scare from deuce.

    *Boulter 2-5 Pliskova

There's a good rhythm about Pliskova now and she's hitting the ball well and serving even better.

She kicks off this game with an ace before Boulter slices a return into the net and in no time at all Pliskova leads 30-15.

Boulter attempts a forehand down the line but it doesn't get over the net before another ace seals a fifth game for Pliskova.

    Boulter 2-4 Pliskova*

    Laura Robson
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's the difference from Pliskova, Katie's level has stayed the same but she's feeling the extra pressure and maybe isn't getting as much love on the forehand side. Pliskova is playing five or 10% better, but Katie's very much still in this first set.

  9. Double break for Pliskovapublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

    Boulter 2-4 Pliskova*

A tough run for Boulter as Pliskova turns things around and gets the double break.

After a near perfect opening couple of games there's some errors creeping into Boulter's game now, failing to make some first serves and hitting a few fairly routine returns long.

"Come on, Katie!" shouts someone from the crowd and she gets a point back, but it only delays Pliskova taking her fourth game in a row.

It can be a long old day-night on Centre Court, particularly if there are two men's matches.

The recently-introduced 20-minute gaps between each of the three matches prolongs the show, as does a potential pause for pulling the roof over when darkness falls - like we've had on each of the past three nights.

But it is still surprising that Centre Court is only still around two-thirds full for an opening match featuring an exciting British player and a former world number one.

Plus, there is an extra half-hour these days for folk to get here on time.

    *Boulter 2-3 Pliskova

There are signs now that Pliskova is winding into gear as she breezes through her service game, holding to love. That's three games in a row for Pliskova and she leads 3-2.

  12. Pliskova breaks backpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

    Boulter 2-2 Pliskova*

A tougher game for Boulter and she soon finds herself in danger of being broken back with Pliskova leading 40-30.

The crowd provides some encouragement and Pliskova hits a forehand return long before a backhand into the net makes it advantage Boulter.

Pliskova pulls it back, however, and a couple of winners has her at advantage before Boulter hits a return long and Pliskova breaks back.

    Watson 7-5 6-4 Wang

    Alan Jewell
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Heather Watson gets it done quickly!

She resumes on court 18 just a game away from the third round after darkness forced a halt last night in her match against Wang Qiang of China. Watson immediately has two match points and is agonisingly close to taking the second but a Wang net cord drops on the Brit's side of the court. She creates a third chance and this time the net isn't kind to Wang - arms in the air in celebration for Heather!

That matches Watson's best performance in the singles at Wimbledon and next she will take on Slovenia's Kaja Juvan.

There was a whole lot of sympathy from the Wimbledon fans when Karolina Pliskova showed a rare flicker of emotion during her runner-up speech last year.

As her voice started to break, the ice-cold Czech said: "I never cry, never, and now..."

That support will not spill over into this match though.

Every winning point for Boulter is greeted raucously by the home support. Those in favour for Pliskova are met with polite, but far from enthusiastic, applause.

    *Boulter 2-1 Pliskova

Pliskova needed to win her service game to stay in this first set and she does.

Some really good serving, including an ace at 15-15, helps get the job done.

  16. Game and first set - Broadypublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

    Broady 6-2 Schwartzman*

What a first set from Liam Broady.

He has utterly outplayed the 12th seed Diego Schwartzman in every facet.

Seals the set with a crushing serve down the centre that the Argentinian can barely get a racquet on.

  17. Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

    Boulter 2-0 Pliskova*

Boulter maintains her aggressive start. She's hitting the ball really well with accuracy and power and looking comfortable in the rallies, coming out of a 17-stroke rally to go 40-15 up.

A nice forehand slice by Pliskova sets her up to take the next point but another winner for Boulter seals the second game.

  18. Schwartzman saves three set pointspublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

    *Broady 5-2 Schwartzman

Liam Broady loses five straight points from 0-40 on Diego Schwartzman's serve.

He still has two chances to serve out the opening set but has to put that little wobble firmly out of his mind.

Just too good from Nick Kyrgios.

He serves out for a two-set lead and is on course for a comfortable win after one hour.

So far, it couldn’t feel more different to his first round match.

Pliskova is an excellent grass court player - but you never know what you are going to get from her for day to day.

    Dream start for Katie Boulter.
