  1. Boulter gets early breakpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

    *Boulter 1-0 Pliskova

Great start by Boulter as she immediately breaks Pliskova!

There's a bit of a battle at deuce before Pliskova swipes a forehand return wide at advantage Boulter and the Brit takes the first game.

Boulter of course beat Pliskova at Eastbourne just last week and that will be fresh in both players' minds.

You are from Yorkshire, JJ, most weather is "not so bad" for you..

Anyway, we are under way on Centre Court.

The roof was open earlier but the organisers have decided to start play indoors.

Didn’t think the weather forecast was so bad.

But I’m certainly no Tomasz Schafenacker.

  4. Broady breaks againpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

    *Broady 4-1 Schwartzman

Liam Broady was in danger of being broken back immediately on Court Three but saved two break points to remain on top of Diego Schwartzman.

And then the Brit breaks again with a simply wonderful return game.

He is pulling out all the shots - a sensational overhead backhand volley, a bullet backhand winner down the line - to currently make a mockery of the 117 places between these two in the world rankings.

    Tweener alert!

Nick Kyrgios is really starting to enjoy himself out on court two. A break up in the second set, he pulls out his first trick, but misses the line.

“Now you want to cough?” Here we go. Kyrgios addresses a spectator directly after they choose the wrong moment to suffer a tickle in their throat. Awkward.

    Boulter v Pliskova

A bit of confusion for Karolina Pliskova as she briefly heads the wrong way as the two players come out of the double doors to walk out onto Centre Court.

A quick change of direction and she follows Katie Boulter out, with huge applause greeting them.

  7. Can Boulter lift home spirits on Centre?published at 13:31 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

    Boulter v Pliskova

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Katie Boulter thrives when she's playing in the limelight and you can bet she will enjoy being back on Centre Court.

After defeats here for Emma Raducanu and Andy Murray yesterday, the home fans in the mecca of British tennis are hoping Boulter can put on a triumphant show.

The British wildcard made her Centre debut last year, winning the first set against Belarusian fourth seed Aryna Sabalenka before being hampered by injury and then losing in three sets.

Now the 25-year-old is hoping her fitness issues are behind her as she looks to shock Karolina Pliskova for the second time in a fortnight.

    *Broady 2-1 Schwartzman

    Now then.

An unstoppable second-serve return sets up break point for Liam Broady and although Diego Schwartzman saves one, the Brit earns another - and the Argentinian 12th seed double faults.

  10. 'Excitement building up'published at 13:24 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

A hubbub of chatter can be heard on Centre Court as people slowly file in, discussing what they are going to see on the stage below them and, probably, the weather.

It's a British thing. Roof open but a bit overcast, if you ask.

Some earlybirds like to sit quietly in their seats at the back, soaking up the atmosphere as it builds and tucking into their tin foil-wrapped sandwiches.

Others head down to the front for that prized photo. Arms are stretched out as far as possible for snapping selfies, while many more go old school and ask the security staff - made up of army, navy and emergency service heroes - to take a more traditional photo for them.

    Broady 1-1 Schwartzman*

Liam Broady is made to work very hard to hold his opening service game.

Diego Schwartzman held his to love but it took the Brit six deuces and more than 12 minutes, saving a break point in the process.

But come through it he did with a variety of winners, including a brilliant stooping cross court backhand at the net.

Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury are into the second round of the doubles although they were pushed to tie-break sets, it is a solid win for the top seeds

Those who love to people watch would be in heaven as the fans giddily filter into Centre Court.

Smiles everywhere. The ultimate happy place.

The excitement on the faces who are clearly getting their first glimpse of the hallowed court can only make you grin too.

The crowd are fully into this devastating display from Nick Kyrgios.

He's letting his tennis do all the talking for him today.

Bullying Krajinovic around the court, the 27-year-old sets up three break points. There's a fightback from the Serb, but Kyrgios brings up a fourth with a wonderful lob before completing the job.

A cool composed performance from Taylor Fritz, and you get the sense more is yet to come.

What a week nonetheless for Alastair Gray to come through and play his first main draw match. What an experience, and plenty more to come.

Taylor Fritz gets the job done and he wins it in three sets, but Britain's Alastair Gray will be left reflecting on the chances he failed to convert.

However, he has given a very creditable performance and pushed the 11th seed hard, but it's Fritz who moves on to round three where he will play Alex Molcan of Slovakia, the world number 51.
