The Centre Court crowd rise to their feet to celebrate Rafael Nadal's victory, and thank Ricardas Berankis for his efforts.

It was certainly not vintage Nadal, but it's job done in four sets once again for the Spaniard.

His hopes of winning a third successive Grand Slam title are alive and well and, really, that's all that matters for the Spaniard at this stage. The fireworks can wait.

    *De Minaur 5-7 3-3 Draper

The door is slightly ajar for De Minaur at 30-30 but the Australian can't seize the opportunity and the Brit's solid serving sees him through another game.

    Berankis 4-6 4-6 6-4 3-6 Nadal

    Andrew Cotter

Not his finest performance but he does enough as all the great ones do. Nadal loves being here on Centre Court. He knows he will have to improve things but he has given himself the chance to do so.

  4. 'Berankis should be proud'published at 20:03 British Summer Time 30 June 2022

    Berankis 4-6 4-6 6-4 3-6 Nadal

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

The trick is not to peak early and make sure you at least advance. Safe to say for Rafa you want to save your best for last, Berankis should be proud of what he did out there today. He tested Rafa.

De Minaur holds to love. Steady stuff there from the 19th seed.

    Berankis 4-6 4-6 6-4 3-6 Nadal

Rafael Nadal, for the second round in a row, gets through in four sets. Ricardas Berankis gave us lots of entertainment and played at 100% until the end, but two-time Wimbledon champion Nadal does what he needed to.

A couple of aces take Rafael Nadal two swipes of the racquet away from the finish line. 30-15

    *De Minaur 5-7 2-2 Draper

Beautiful hitting by Draper, who wins a 21-shot rally before flicking a backhand volley away to move 30-0 up.

He sends another volley long but closes out the game competently - just one point dropped from his first two service games in the second set.

    The Australian's back on serve.

    Berankis 4-6 4-6 6-4 3-5 Nadal*

Nadal has 22 Grand Slam trophies in the cabinet and is more than halfway towards a calendar year grand slam.

He would become the first man to achieve it since Rod Laver in 1969 if he can add Wimbledon and the US Open to his Australian and French Opens.

He is now serving for the match and a place in the third round after Berankis holds.

Another brilliant point, which Berankis should have finished off at the net, but a stretching Nadal keeps it alive before winning it with a volley at the net. 30-30, Nadal two shots away from the end.

    De Minaur 5-7 2-1 Draper*

De Minaur breezes through his latest service game, pummelling his eighth ace past Draper to get his nose in front once again.

This has not been vintage Rafa but it is good enough.

    Berankis 4-6 4-6 6-4 2-5 Nadal*

A great point, ending with a sublime crosscourt winner from Berankis, who's fighting until the end. However, he then loops one long and that takes Nadal one game away from the finish line.

    *De Minaur 5-7 1-1 Draper

A stress-free hold to love for Draper puts the pressure back on his opponent.

    De Minaur 5-7 1-0 Draper*

Now then. A nervy De Minaur already has three break points to save in the second set.

He saves the first with an ace, then the second with a cross-court backhand that Draper may have felt was going wide.

On De Minaur's second serve, Draper misjudges his return and the Australian then ends the game in emphatic fashion.

An important hold you'd have to say given how the first set finished.

    Berankis 4-6 4-6 6-4 2-4 Nadal*

    Andrew Cotter

Berankis has raised his level but Nadal has as well. He's got some way to go, he will know that.

    Berankis 4-6 6-4 6-4 2-4 Nadal*

Nadal was at 0-30 on the Berankis serve and would've then been serving for the match if he'd finished the game off but Berankis fought back well to hold and be only two games behind.

What a set from Draper. Court number one has a new hero. Everyone has every right to get excited about Jack Draper's career.
