    Kyrgios 6-7 (2-7) 6-4 6-3 5-5 Tsitsipas*

Another loose drop-shot by Kyrgios should let Tsitsipas make it 0-40 but he doesn't do enough after getting there and we are quickly back at 30-all.

That's not the end of the drama, mind you, because Kyrgios is in trouble again and facing a set-point after being too casual, yet again.

Does Kyrgios look rattled? Of course not. His serve gets him out of trouble yet again and we are back level in the fourth set at 5-5.

Rafael Nadal speaking on court after his straight sets victory on Centre Court:

"Probably been my best match here without a doubt during the Championships, against the most difficult player I faced. I have been able to raise my level, super happy for that and wishing Lorenzo Sonego the best for the season he is a great player on grass I think he has a great future here.

"Not spicy at all - I just from the bottom of my heart I didn't make it in a negative way I feel sorry if I bothered him but I did it in a right way. I feel really bad now if I bothered him so I feel sorry for that. That's it - I will talk to him after but this is not a problem."

On his fitness: "You never know - it's always a tricky thing. I went through some tough injuries in my career but in some way I feel very lucky that I am still able to play at my age. I never thought that would happen 10 years ago so I feel lucky so thanks to everyone who has supported to me in this journey."

Nadal and Sonego shake hands at the net but then the players stay there for rather a long time... presumably carrying on their earlier 'discussion'.

Nadal will no doubt be asked in his news conference why he chose to speak to him there rather than in the privacy of the locker room and in his on-court interview he says "Now I feel really bad if I bothered him."

    *Kyrgios 6-7 (2-7) 6-4 6-3 4-5 Tsitsipas

Kyrgios is so quick with his serve that he gets asked to wait by the umpire while he is mid-toss at 0-15, and this is not the time for an exhibition drop-shot that goes badly wrong and leaves him at 0-30.

    *Kyrgios 6-7 (2-7) 6-4 6-3 4-5 Tsitsipas

Tsitsipas is in a spot of bother at 30-all - a couple of slips here and Kyrgios would be serving for the match - but instead he fires down ace no.16 of the match and is soon back in his chair for the changeover.

    Kyrgios 6-7 (2-7) 6-4 6-3 4-4 Tsitsipas*

The players were offered a warm-up before the match resumed but both of them wanted to go straight back into the real thing. Tsitsipas is serving ok so far... but his forehand looks a little rusty and two wild ones have left him wobbling at 30-all.

Without being disrespectful, it's the weakest Wimbledon I can remember in terms of the draw. There was always going to be a chance for someone to come through and have a run. Maybe that person is Nick Kyrgios?

    Sonego 1-6 2-6 4-6 Nadal

Rafael Nadal wins it and is into the fourth round.

A bit of a bizarre exchange at the net between the two players at the end with Rafael Nadal lecturing Lorenzo Sonego, unhappy at that incident near the end of the third set when Nadal complained about Sonego making too much noise during a point.

It had the feel of a school teacher telling off a naughty pupil.

    Boos on Centre Court!

Yes, we’ve got in on the act too. Nadal and Sonego are at the net - the Spaniard is not happy that the Italian made a noise before hitting his shot and he’s called his opponent up to the net to tell him exactly what he thinks.

It’s the sort of thing that normally goes through the umpire rather than players taking matters into their own hands.

  12. Nadal breaks, now serving for the matchpublished at 20:45 British Summer Time 2 July 2022

    Sonego 1-6 2-6 4-5 Nadal*

The Sonego recovery doesn't last long as Nadal immediately responds to being broken by getting the advantage back.

Nadal will now be serving for the match and a place in round four.

    *Sonego 1-6 2-6 4-4 Nadal

Nadal has just had his serve broken but may immediately do the same to Sonego, 30-40.

  14. Sonego gets the breakpublished at 20:42 British Summer Time 2 July 2022

    *Sonego 1-6 2-6 4-4 Nadal

Sonego converts his first break point chance and we're back on serve in the third set. Sonego then gets a bit of a telling off from first Rafael Nadal and then the chair umpire. Nadal unhappy that Sonego apparently was making too much noise during a point.

Love or hate all the extra elements to this contest, you can't take your eyes off this.

Two break points saved by Tsitsipas. Then three saved by Kyrgios. It's popcorn-worthy theatre - and some!

The roof is going to be closed, and this ridiculous, mad match is going to be played out under the lights!

  16. Postpublished at 20:41 British Summer Time 2 July 2022

    Kyrgios 6-7 (2-7) 6-4 6-3 4-4 Tsitsipas*

Amazing. Just like Tsitsipas did in his last game, Kyrgios finds a way back and serves his way out of trouble, in incredible fashion.

We really will get a chance to get our breath back now, because there will be a pause while they close the roof on Court One.

    *Kyrgios 6-7 (2-7) 6-4 6-3 3-4 Tsitsipas

Tsitsipas produces the magic here, first with a lob volley and then a crashing cross-court forehand winner which is called out but successfully challenged.

That takes him to 0-30 and it is his turn to get a bit of luck with his next return, to bring up three break points.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has faced some big serves and a couple of very tricky forehands earlier in the match. He's done very well to hold in there, he hasn't played well enough to keep himself out of those positions that's the problem with his game today.

He hasn't hit the standards he would want, but he's still in this match after everything. His biggest issue is getting those serves back. He's giving way too many free points away.

    Sonego 1-6 2-6 3-4 Nadal*

Is there life in this match after all? Sonego at 0-30 on the Nadal serve, that's the first time he's been in this position in this match.

It gets even better for the Italian, 0-40, three break points to get us back on serve.
