    *Kyrgios 6-7 (2-7) 6-4 6-3 0-1 Tsitsipas

Three break-points for Kyrgios, but he sees them all come and go - that's just two from 11 in the match that he has converted, but he soon has another chance when Tsitsipas double faults.

What next? Well how about "the shot of the match" - in Pat Cash's words - a drive volley into the corner from Tsitsipas to make deuce, and then an injury scare when Kyrgios goes down and looks in real pain after slipping on the next point.

He is back on his feet now, but is still clutching his hip as Tsitsipas wraps up the hold. Time to take a breath, if you can.

    Sonego 1-6 2-6 2-3 Nadal*

A good hold for Sonego who hasn't given up hope yet. He comes back from 15-30 on his serve. Sonego wants the lights to be turned on but the roof would have to be closed for that to happen.

Sonego has a chat with some tournament officials but for the time being we continue with the roof open and with Nadal three holds from round four.

Lorenzo Sonego is unhappy about something and is chatting to the umpire - but it's all very civilised, he seems to think maybe it's time to switch the lights on. His request is turned down for now although it has got noticeably darker in the last few minutes.

This really does have it all. Nick Kyrgios, bowing as he lapped up the applause after his drop shot skimmed the net on its way over, is now in control of this match and, amid all the nonsense, is on for a huge victory.

Problems already for Tsitsipas, and this time they are all of his own making... first with a couple of sloppy backhands and then he puts a mid-court forehand wide. That's 0-40, and three break-points.

    *Sonego 1-6 2-6 1-3 Nadal

Nadal holds the fourth game of the third set and is at 15-30 on the Sonego serve. A double break in this set would surely be game over for the 27th seed.

    Kyrgios 6-7 (2-7) 6-4 6-3 0-0 Tsitsipas*

A new headband for Tsitsipas at the start of the fourth set. He really needs to clear his head too, and focus on his tennis. Good luck with that, though.

    Sonego 1-6 2-6 1-2 Nadal*

A hold to love from Sonego.

Nadal is still in complete control though and if he finishes the job it will mean he has reached the last 16 in each of the last 20 Grand Slams he has played in. Even the one before that, the French Open in 2016, he got to round three when he had to withdraw through injury.

Indeed, you have to go back to January 2016 when he lost in the first round of the Australian Open to Fernando Verdasco for the last time Nadal was beaten on court in a Grand Slam in any of the three opening rounds.

It's all polite applause and calm players here on Centre Court... the most controversial moments were a cork popping and a phone ringing...

Court One's drama feels a very long way from here!

Kyrgios has taken one of the most extraordinary sets of tennis you will ever see anywhere. It has had absolutely everything.

Peter: how much longer do we have to put up with this childish behaviour? It's not "entertaining" any more, just two immature guys trying to push the boundaries of what is acceptable. Time to tell them that it isn't.

Big Pawed Bear: Kyrgios v Tsitsipas boxing or box office? Set 2, game whatever, fight! time to dump the racquets and get the gloves out?

    Kyrgios 6-7 (2-7) 6-4 6-3 0-0 Tsitsipas*

Wow, what else could this match throw at us? How about two net cords for Kyrgios as he serves for the set... he apologises for the first one, then takes a theatrical bow to the crowd after the second.

He wraps things up with a brilliant volley, though, and he has the upper hand in this match now. The crowd, needless to say, are loving every second of this.

Tsitsipas has not been playing his best tennis during all this mayhem but he produces a peach of a forehand here, to hold to love.

Kyrgios to serve for the set next... the next changeover should be interesting, whatever happens.

All quiet at the changeover after a routine hold by Kyrgios? Absolutely no chance.

He is complaining again - "where is my towel, where is my banana?"

Did Stefanos Tsitsipas try to catch Nick Kyrgios with the ball there as he smashed that winner away? The crowd seem to think he may have. More jeers.

The Court One cauldron is threatening to spill over.

"Good shot" says the Australian sarcastically, as Tsitsipas misses with a backhand.

    *Kyrgios 6-7 (2-7) 6-4 4-2 Tsitsipas

Tsitsipas is the pantomime villain for the Court One crowd which seems unfair - as he's just explained to the umpire, for most of this extraordinary match he has been the one player focused on trying to play tennis.

The fourth seed doesn't really help matters here, though. He elects to smack the ball at Kyrgios rather than put away a simple smash... and sends the ball long. Tsitsipas recovers to hold, but he needs to regain his focus, and quickly.

  20. Nadal breaks early in the third setpublished at 19:56 British Summer Time 2 July 2022

Rafael Nadal is looking to wrap this one up quickly. He gets the break in the first game of the third set. Nadal, at the age of 36, is looking unstoppable today.
