Nicola: Not to be today but he's shown everybody what he's capable of this tournament and there'll be even more good things to come from him I'm sure. Keep your head up Norrie and go again at the next one

It's easy to forget after the performances he put in to reach this stage that Cam Norrie had never before been beyond the third round at a Grand Slam.

What fortnight for the 26-year-old - and there's plenty more to come.

A fourth successive Wimbledon title is a match away for Novak Djokovic.

A seventh title at the All England Club would see him equal William Renshaw and Pete Sampras in second place on the all-time list for the most Wimbledon men’s singles titles won.

Steve Moss: Novak Djokovic coasted into his eighth Wimbledon Final with plenty in reserve for the match with Nick Kyrgios. Something to look forward to.

  7. Norrie can look to Murray's route to glorypublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 8 July 2022

Cameron Norrie's fellow Brit Andy Murray is a two-time Wimbledon champion now.

But this is what it took for him to get to that first win at SW19:

    • 2009: semi-final
    • 2010: semi-final
    • 2011: semi-final
    • 2012: final
    • 2013: champion

See you same time, same place next year, Cam!

It all started so well for Cameron Norrie.

A terrific start saw him take the first set off six-time champion Novak Djokovic.

    A moment worth re-living!

Yes, interestingly, as Novak Djokovic mentioned in his on-court interview, he has never won a set against Nick Kyrgios.

Ok, so they've not met since 2017, and both of those encounters came on hard courts at Indian Wells and Acapulco, but still, could that offer Kyrgios a psychological advantage?

    Who knows...

And on his final against Australian Nick Kyrgios, Djokovic said: "The job is not finished. One thing is for sure there are going to be a lot of fireworks emotionally from both.

"It's going to be his first Grand Slam final. Obviously he's very excited and he doesn't have much to lose.

"He's playing so freely. He has one of the biggest serves in the game. We haven't played for some time.

"I've never won a set off him. Hopefully it can be different this time. It's another final for me at Wimbledon so hopefully the experience can work in my favour."

    Djokovic 2-6 6-3 6-2 6-4 Norrie

Djokovic was, of course, also asked about his decision to put on a cap on after losing the first set.

Laughing, he said: "Sometimes things are as simple as that or maybe not. It was the hottest day of the championships so far.

"I was a bit tighter at the beginning of the match. Cameron was dominating the play and I felt like I got lucky in the second set to break his serve.

"He kind of gifted me a game and since then the momentum shifted a bit. That's the significance of the semi-finals of a Grand Slam."

  12. 'I have great respect for Norrie'published at 18:09 British Summer Time 8 July 2022

    Djokovic 2-6 6-3 6-2 6-4 Norrie

On his semi-final win over Britain's Cameron Norrie, Novak Djokovic said: "I didn't start off well. He was the better player for the first set.

"I've had many semi-finals in Grand Slams in the past but it's never easy walking out on court.

"You have a lot of pressure and expectations on yourself and from others.

"Cameron didn't have much to lose. I wish him all the best.

"He's a great player. I have a lot of respect for him."

    A 32nd Grand Slam final.

    An eighth Wimbledon final.

    A 27th consecutive match-win at Wimbledon

    An 85th Wimbledon match-win and 333rd Grand Slam match-win.

    Staggering numbers.

But it's the chance of a 21st Grand Slam title that will matter most for Novak Djokovic.

Oooh errr! Someone shouts out just before Djokovic serves out victory and when he does, the top seed turns and screams in that direction.

That does not go down well with some home fans, who launch into a chorus of boos.

After another outpouring of emotion, Djokovic's mood turns more respectful when he claps Norrie off the court.

The crowd don't seem to like Novak Djokovic's reaction, as the Serb blows a kiss to a spectator who called out during that final game.

But that all stops as everyone applauds Cam Norrie off the court after a valiant two hour and 34 minute fight.
