Again Djokovic pushes Norrie further and further back behind the baseline and eventually it's all too much for the ninth seed. He nets to give his opponent another break point.

Norrie has got to look to find that first serve - he's only won one on the second serve in this set.

Norrie looks a bit shaky on his forehand and Djokovic capitalises. He comes up to the net and finds plenty of open court to hit a winning backhand and go 30-15 up on Norrie's serve.

The Brit levels things up with a nerveless serve out wide.

The crowd is growing into its 'let's go Norrie, let's go' chant now.

The Brit looks a bit too pumped up as his return of serve goes long, but Djokovic repays the favour as he slams a forehand into the net.

The 20-time Grand Slam winner isn't down for long and two aces out wide seals his hold.

"Come on!" shouts Cameron Norrie after holding serve.

Then he gestures to the Centre Court crowd to turn up the volume.

After he gently wafts his hands into the air, the 15,000 or so fans respond with a loud cheer of encouragement.

He still believes and so do they.

    That's more like it.

Norrie sends Djokovic dashing to the right before slamming a forehand winner into the bottom-left corner.

He gives himself a little 'come on' after another forehand winner, before a stylish backhand volley brings up 40-15.

Meanwhile, Djokovic mutters angrily to his box.

The defending champion fails to return Norrie's serve and the Brit seals an easy hold. He needed that.

  9. Djokovic holds to lovepublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 8 July 2022

    Djokovic 2-6 6-3 2-0 Norrie*

The net cord was against Novak Djokovic earlier but it seems to have switched allegiance.

It bounces the ball up in the end before popping it down on the Wimbledon turf with no hope of Cam Norrie reaching it.

Norrie then massively misjudges a smash to give Djokovic a hold to love.

This is nothing like the Norrie who won the first set, but we did see similar ups and downs in his victory against David Goffin.

Centre Court is the place to be right now.

Actor Rami Malek and his partner Lucy Boynton, former England forward Wayne Rooney and wife Colleen and Bridgerton star Rege-Jean Page and his partner Emily Brown are all enjoying the action from the stands, plus former deputy chief medical officer Jonathan Van-Tam.

The crowd breaks out into a round of "Let's go Norrie, let's go!" as the players change ends.

With Djokovic circling, he'll need a bit more than that.

This is a massive game - the first two sets were an hour and 10 minutes and it felt like Norrie was on top for an hour. He's just lost his way a little bit.

Twice Djokovic has slipped behind the baseline in this game.

To be honest there isn't too much concern from the crowd after the second one.

Firstly because it saved a break point against Norrie and secondly because Djokovic quickly gets to his feet while they're still celebrating.

You can't hold off Novak Djokovic for long.

Norrie mishits his forehand and sends it high into the air. It eventually lands long and it's an early lead for Djokovic.

    This feels dangerous.

  15. Third break pointpublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 8 July 2022

    Djokovic 2-6 6-3 0-0 Norrie*

Another break point, another slip from Djokovic.

He can't seem to get any grip as he pretty much face plants into the floor. Obviously, Norrie wins the point.

But he immediately sets up another break point.

  16. Another break pointpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 8 July 2022

    No, no, no.

Norrie's shot goes out again and Djokovic has another chance.

    Djokovic 2-6 6-3 0-0 Norrie*

Norrie has Djokovic on the floor!

The Serb dives to get a backhand and he does get it over the net successfully, but given he's lying on his back there's not much he can do about Norrie's smash.

An important save for the Brit.

    Oh dear.

Norrie challenges an out call on his forehand. It was close, but defnitely not in and that's break point.

Cameron Norrie starts the third set by winning a brilliant point and that evens draws a clap of the strings by Novak Djokovic.

"Too good," is what the top seed is thinking.

Jiten Chandarana: The old saying, keep knocking on the door and it will open eventually. That’s what Djokovic did. Important for Norrie to keep holding at the start of the 3rd and keep staying ahead in the score.
