    Nadal 4-1 Ruud*

Nadal, with the forehand flying, is a thing of beauty. He's standing on the baseline when he hit it and knew it was a winner the second it left the racquet, with it finding the line.

A few famous faces in the crowd spotted, including actors Hugh Grant and Michael Douglas. They, like everyone else, really enjoyed that shot.

Really nice point construction from Nadal - he knows now he can go to the backhand of Ruud if he needs to stay in the point longer.

My dad texted me and said he was going for the underdog - and I feel like texting him back to ask him when he's going to change his mind!

An attempted drop shot from Ruud sits up nicely and is slapped away by Nadal on his way to a hold to 15. Nadal 4-1 ahead and this set is going to take some saving for the underdog.

Ruud has to get more depth on his shots. If he gives Nadal too many looks at a second serve he will be second best today.

Some waving of the Spanish flags and with every reason as Nadal regains his early control on this one.

We've had three breaks in a row and Nadal again has some breathing space and a two-game lead.

A loose forehand from Ruud, with a bit too much adrenaline pumping through the body, and it flies wide to give Nadal break point.

Nadal was not able to drive up with the legs - if you look at the two doubles faults.

That's where you see if the foot is bothering him.

To the right of the big screen behind the baseline, there are four Casper Ruud fans.

The t-shirts each worn by the quartet, spelling out R-U-U-D, are a dead giveaway.

    And they're wearing Viking hats.

    Nadal 2-1 Ruud*

We had eight breaks of serve in the opening nine games of the second set in Nadal's semi-final with Alexander Zverev, before, what looked like being a classic ended way too early as Zverev fell on his ankle and suffered a bad ligament injury and had to retire.

In three games of this match, we've already seen two breaks of serve.

I think this is where the mindset of Ruud is so good. He knows that a lapse here from Nadal gets him the opportunities.

Nadal has been broken much more often than the Norwegian.

    Russell Fuller

Nadal said, eight years ago, that his generation was on the way out. And we laughed then, and we laugh now.

This is very ominous indeed for Casper Ruud.

For a 36-year-old man who has severe foot problems, Rafael Nadal sure does move quickly around the court. He sprints up to the net to put away a volley on the opening point of Ruud's first service game.

It is quite interesting to see how calm and composed Ruud is. They know how each other plays, and Coco Gauff did not have that same level of comfort yesterday.
