Great Britain will need to play a qualifying tie in April to return to the Finals next year. The draw is tomorrow.

Unless, that is, they end up hosting again - and that is far from impossible.

  4. 'GB will be here again'published at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2022

Let's hear from the winning doubles team...

Sam Stosur: "It's better playing than watching. It was such a tough match and nothing in it. No-one deserved to lose. Well played to the whole GB team, you've had a great week."

Storm Sanders: "That was amazing. it could have gone either way and credit to the GB girls they played really well. They will be here again for sure."

Seven-time champions Australia are through to their 19th BJK Cup final, their first since 2019.

Prior to that occasion, they hadn't reached the final since 1993.

    Barnett/Nicholls 6-7 (1-7) 7-6 (7-5) 6-10 Sanders/Stosur

What an effort though from Nicholls and Barnett. This week has marked their debuts in the BJK Cup and their performances have been extraordinary.

Also worth remembering that GB were knocked out of the competition in April, only qualifying for the Finals as the host nation, yet they fought with all of their might to get to a match tie-break in the semi-finals. An incredible run from Anne Keothavong's team.

There are tears in the eyes of the British players.

Obviously this is a huge disappointment but everyone should be so proud of their effort.

They will be so motivated for the future.
