Britain are banking on Heather Watson's experience to get them off to a flyer.

Watson, 30, moved alongside Sue Barker in fifth place on the list of most Fed Cup/Billie Jean King Cup matches won by a British player when she beat Spain's Nuria Parrizas-Diaz on Thursday.

Watson is also in second place on the list for most singles matches won by a British player in the competition.

Only Virginia Wade has won more.

    Watson 1-2 Sanders*

Storm Sanders is piling the pressure on Heather Watson's serve, making the Brit fight for every point.

Sanders earns herself another break point opportunity with a forehand cross-court placed just out of Watson's reach, but scuppers her chance, taking the game to deuce.

Great coverage at the net from Sanders sees her earn another break point, which she converts as a Watson return finds the net.

    *Watson 1-1 Sanders

Watson nabs the first point of the Sanders serve but the Aussie levels with a helping hand from the net cord, the ball striking it and plopping over the net, giving Watson zero chance.

From there, Sanders takes control of the game, securing the hold to 15 with a lovely touch over the net to finish it off.

    Watson 1-0 Sanders*

Not the start Heather Watson was after, handing Storm Sanders two break points in her opening service game.Struggling on her first serve, she saves the first break point, and then the second with a cracking ace.

Watson gets herself the advantage but Sanders brings it back to deuce with a lovely forehand into the corner, but hands her British opponent a second chance, which she duly takes.

Good to see/hear the GB band in full voice this morning in the crowd. "Here we go, here we go, here we gooooo."

Heather has to stay aggressive today because Storm is such a good mover and uses her lefty game to pull you across court and create angles.
