Interesting move to close the Centre Court roof.

Especially when sun is streaming through the plastic, with about another hour or so of daylight.

And especially because the All England Club is always so keen to play outdoors as much as possible.

But with about three hours until the curfew organisers are clearly thinking we won’t have time to pause to close the roof later on.

Wow, a booming forehand from Tsitsipas finds the far corner of the court for a stone cold winner and gives Andy Murray an idea of what he's up against here.

The Scot sends a forehand long and it's 0-30 in only the second game...

Daniil Medvedev gets the break in the seventh game against Adrian Mannarino at the second attempt.

The first break point saw the Russian send a two-handed backhand long after a fine rally, but the powerful Medvedev was then too good with a brutal forehand with the ball flying off the Mannarino racquet and into the stands on court two.

We’ve had only seven games in a really hard-fought 45 minutes and if it stays this close then they may have to come back tomorrow to finish it.

Matches on the other courts are diminishing but third seed Daniil Medvedev is in action against Adrian Mannarino, with that match currently 3-3 in the first set.

Elsewhere, Grigor Dimitrov, the 21st seed, is on course for a straight sets win against Ilya Ivashka having won the first two 6-3 6-4 and it is 2-2 in the third set.

The match between Ben Shelton and Laslo Djere is into a fourth set. Shelton won the first 6-3 but Djere has fought back, winning the next two 6-3 7-6 (7-5).

Finally, Marton Fucsovics is two sets up on Marcos Giron in their second-round match.

Oof, a delicious one-handed backhand winner down the line from Tsitsipas in a shot reminiscent of Roger Federer.

Andy Murray responds with a winner down the line too but that's the only point he picks up in the opening game as the Greek fifth seed holds to 15.

Ruud was the tournament's fourth seed - Stefanos Tsitsipas is the fifth seed. Can lightning strike twice for the Brits on Centre?

There is a not inconsiderable chance that Andy Murray loses this. Stefanos Tsitsipas is number five in the world and has won four times as many matches this season as Murray.

He was an Australian Open runner-up in January. He's got a big serve, he's fairly comfortable coming forward, and the man is in love!

Any man trying to win a title in a Grand Slam, who also opts to play the men's doubles with his brother and the mixed doubles with his girlfriend is sending out signals that he probably believes he won't win the singles title here.

  16. 'Watching Murray's 2013 win gives me shivers'published at 19:41 British Summer Time 6 July 2023

    Murray v Tsitsipas

Tomorrow will be the 10-year anniversary since Andy Murray beat Novak Djokovic to win Wimbledon for the first time - an occasion his second-round opponent Stefanos Tsitsipas, 14 at the time, remembers well.

"A few years ago I witnessed his first Wimbledon title and thinking about it now gives me goosebumps, I felt what he went through, and every time I watch that moment it gives me shivers all over my body," he said.

"He's someone that I respect. He has done great things in tennis. I'm looking forward to this match. That court over there (Centre Court) is almost like his living room."

Murray has had an extra day to prepare than Tsitsipas, having beaten compatriot Ryan Peniston on Centre Court on Tuesday, while Tsitsipas was taken to five sets by Austrian Dominic Thiem in a match played over two days after rain delayed the conclusion until Wednesday evening.

However, the Greek said after that match: "My body feels good. I know it was a five-setter, but I feel like there isn't any soreness or any major fatigue on my body right now."

The double doors open and the players enter the Centre Court arena, greeted by whoops and cheers from the crowd.

But both players remain businesslike and statesmanlike, not showing a flicker of emotion.

    That will change.

  18. 'Loo-gate forgotten' - Tsitsipaspublished at 19:37 British Summer Time 6 July 2023

    Murray v Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas says a row with Andy Murray over bathroom breaks is "forgotten" as he prepares to take on the Briton at Wimbledon shortly.

The Centre Court contest is a rematch of their feisty 2021 US Open encounter where Murray was angered by the Greek having an eight-minute toilet break.

Murray said after the match the incident was "a joke" and that he had "lost a lot of respect" for his opponent - but Tsitsipas says the matter is now, no pun intended, water under the bridge.

"I think it has been settled already a long time ago," Tsitsipas said. "We had to play Laver Cup together in the same team. I've forgotten about it. He has forgotten about it."

  19. 'Long first round unlikely to be factor for Tsitsipas'published at 19:36 British Summer Time 6 July 2023

    Murray v Tsitsipas

    Russell Fuller
Tennis correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Live

The match against Dominic Thiem, which was spread over two days, was a three-hour 56-minute match and didn't finish until early evening, but Tsitsipas won in a fifth set tie-break.

Now I don't think that's going to be much of a factor because Tsitsipas is 24 years of age. He is in the prime of his life athletically.

He's got a lot of wins under his belt this year but clearly it's a slight disadvantage not to be able to relax and practice before a match, like Andy Murray did after a straightforward win over Ryan Peniston the day before.

I think everybody's optimistic about Murray's chances because of his grass court record and because Tsitsipas would not say grass was his favourite surface. I think we probably are slightly underestimating Tsitspas' chances in this match.

  20. Tsitsipas beats Thiem in epic to set up Murray meetingpublished at 19:34 British Summer Time 6 July 2023

    Murray v Tsitsipas

"For a second I thought we were doing the repeat of Isner versus Mahut," Stefanos Tsitsipas said of his marathon first-round win over Dominic Thiem - referring to the longest match in history, played at Wimbledon in 2010.

    "It felt forever."

Not quite forever - but four hours is long enough. It was a thriller jam packed with awesome tennis too - check out the highlights below.
