The crowd were desperate for Stan Wawrinka to win that tie-break and take it to tomorrow - maybe some of them had tickets for Saturday and wanted to see more.
Wawrinka looked to be giving the crowd what they wanted at 5-3 ahead, but Djokovic came from behind, winning four points in a row - avoiding a headache for the tournament referee who would've been worried about where to squeeze this match into the schedule.
For Djokovic, his march towards an eighth Wimbledon title, which would match Roger Federer's total and equal the men's record continues at pace.
The Serb advances into the last 16 and the crowd, with 14 minutes to spare, get to see the complete match.
Wawrinka 3-6 1-6 6-7 (5-7) Djokovic
Let's hear from Djokovic, after his straight sets win over Stan Wawrinka:
"First of all I have to say it's amazing what Stan is doing at his age, after several surgeries. We're two old guys against young guns. It's important to acknowledge that. It's amazing, it's inspiring. Like Andy he was forced to drop the rankings and in the last couple of years trying to build his rankings.
"I respect him as a player, he's an extremely nice guy and I wish him the best for the season."
How aware was he of the curfew?
"He was two points away from extending the match for another day. We knew it was going to be really tight and it looked good for me the first two sets. He raised his level, the crowd got involved and hopefully you guys enjoyed it."
John McEnroe called you the complete player - how much does that mean against all the records?
"Love you John, thank you for your nice words. While I am in the tournament numbers don't mean anything. I need to focus all my attention into the next match, get the most out of the recovery day and work on some things with my team.
"Let's see - we're going into the second week and the matches are only going to get tougher. Hubert Hurkacz knows how to play on the big occasions and my thoughts are directed on the next challenge."
And here's the action on Court One on Day Six.
Wimbledon 2023: Ons Jabeur speeds past Bai Zhuoxuan in 44 minutes to advance
It means a swift return to the court for Ons Jabeur but she should be pretty rested given she got the job done against Bai Zhuoxuan in just 44 minutes.
Here's what coming up tomorrow with Carlos Alcaraz kicking off the action on Centre Court against Nicolas Jarry.
Some big British names fell today with Andy Murray, Cameron Norrie and Liam Broady all knocked out but Katie Boulter is flying the flag for the Brits and she is last up on centre court against Elena Rybakina.
Ons Jabeur, who reached the final last year, faces Bianca Andreescu in the other Centre Court clash.
Speaking of Hubert Hurkacz, this is what he did in his win against Lorenzo Musetti earlier.

That win ensures Novak Djokovic isn't playing for the third day in a row and gets a well-earned day off tomorrow.
He will play Hubert Hurkacz in the fourth round.
Wawrinka 3-6 1-6 6-7 (5-7) Djokovic
Novak Djokovic seals it with a smash and gets the job done tonight. A spirited fightback by Stan Wawrinka but the defending champion is into the fourth round.

But Novak Djokovic takes the next three points and he's on match point...
Wawrinka 3-6 1-6 6-6 (5-3) Djokovic
A brief moment of concern as Novak Djokovic slips but he's able to avoid doing any damage.
Another point for Stan Wawrinka - his third in a row - and then he sends a backhand just out of Djokovic's reach to lead 5-3 and edge closer to staying in this for another day.
Wawrinka 3-6 1-6 6-6 (3-3) Djokovic
There's not enough lift on the drop shot by Novak Djokovic and the ball hits the net to make it 3-2 before he sends a return long and we're back on serve in this tie-break.
Wawrinka 3-6 1-6 6-6 (1-3) Djokovic
Stan Wawrinka sends his forehand long to hand Novak Djokovic the mini-break before Wawrinka hits a return into the net and Djokovic leads 3-1 in the tie-break.

This is the first time you feel Wawrinka could do something here.
Wawrinka 3-6 1-6 6-6 Djokovic*
Stan Wawrinka will be annoyed that there is a curfew in place because he's very much in the groove now and the crowd are really enjoying this battle.
Sweat is dripping off Wawrinka's hair as he looks to take this to a tie-break and the two tussle at deuce before Wawrinka hits an ace and then Novak Djokovic sends a return long and we do indeed go to a tie-break.

If Novak Djokovic is to finish this tonight, he can't let it go into a fourth set.
The clock is ticking. Half-hour of play left on Friday.

I suspect that this is the last set of tennis we'll see tonight, so Djokovic will be digging in big time.
*Wawrinka 3-6 1-6 5-6 Djokovic
Two quick service games from both as now Novak Djokovic also holds to love.
We're unlikely to see another set played tonight, so will Stan Warwinka ensure he is still around until tomorrow at least?
