Game, set and match - Runepublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Rune 6-3 7-6 (7-3) 6-4 Carballes Baena

    Job done for Holger Rune!

The sixth seed marches on to the third round with a straight-set win over Spain's Roberto Carballes Baena.

He came through a tricky first set, in which he was broken twice, and a second set tie-break, before closing out victory by taking the final three games on court three.

  2. Postpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Gracheva 6-2 2-1 Sabalenka*

Delightful from Varvara Gracheva as she disguises a delicious drop shot to take control of her latest service game.

An ill-timed double fault gives Aryna Sabalenka a sniff but the second seed dumps a forehand into the net and then goes long with a service return.

    Set two remains on serve.

  3. Muller holdspublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 1-2 Muller

Plenty of unforced errors in that game. It ends with another overhit looping shot by Carlos Alcaraz.

I'd say Alexandre Muller will be pleased with his Centre Court debut so far.

  4. Postpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Gracheva 6-2 1-1 Sabalenka

The crowd are trying to rouse Aryna Sabalenka whose frustration is all-too-evident as another wayward game is lost to love.

Two big first serves however prompt long returns from Varvara Gracheva and hint at an easy hold, which the Belarusian duly manages to close out.

An important settler for the world number two.

  5. Game and second set - Berrettinipublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Berrettini 6-3 6-4 0-0 De Minaur*

In terms of ranking and current form, this could be seen as a bit of an upset.

But perhaps not when you consider Matteo Berrettini is a former finalist here.

The Italian, forced to miss Wimbledon last year after testing positive for Covid, is currently 38th in the rankings.

Up against Australian 15th seed Alex De Minaur, he now has a two-set lead on court 18 and is closing in on a place in the third round.

    Alcaraz 1-1 Muller*

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

That's one for the highlights reel, with the pair exchanging volleys at close range either side of the net.

A raised fist from Alcaraz when he wins the point and he would have been staring down three break points on his serve if he hadn't done so.

A very enjoyable couple of games on a sunny day, with a nice breeze at a packed Centre Court. Perfection

  7. Alcaraz holdspublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Alcaraz 1-1 Muller*

Wow. A double fault and an error for the top seed as Alexandre Muller is gifted a 0-30 lead.

Carlos Alcaraz comes out on top of a fantastic little rally at the net to claw a point, and a couple of errors from Muller allows Alcaraz to hold.

Judging by these first two games, it might not be quite as straightforward for the world number one as we thought.

  8. Postpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Gracheva* 6-2 Sabalenka

Aryna Sabalenka had 16 unforced errors in that first set to Varvara Gracheva's eight.

After getting a break of serve in the very first game, she duly fell apart.

She'll need to find a response in this second set or we'll have a shock on our hands.

    Jess Anderson

Who saw this coming? Sabalenka looks way out of sorts and completely gifted Gracheva that first set with the way she handled that service game.

Unsurprisingly, the Belarusian has left the court to regroup.

  10. 'Hard to say Sabalenka has fixed her serve'published at 13:44 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    *Gracheva 6-2 Sabalenka

    CoCo Vandeweghe
Two-time Grand Slam semi-finalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

It is hard to say that Sabalenka has fixed her serve completely when she just throws in those two double faults.

Playing her you know that the serve can be as hot as an oven but also it can very cold and you just have to be ready to adjust in those moments.

  11. Sabalenka loses first setpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Gracheva* 6-2 Sabelenka

Yikes, that's an ugly game for Aryna Sabalenka and it has cost her the first set.

Two double faults, an unforced forehand error and Varvara Gracheva has three set points.

She only needs one as Sabalenka goes very long with a backhand return.

Not many on a sweltering Court One were expecting this.

  12. Good handspublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 0-1 Muller

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

A little gasp when Alcaraz balloons a forehand into the crowd, followed by a cheer when a spectator shows good hands to grab on to it.

But, despite one loose shot, the world number one instantly forces a break point on the Muller serve, before a forehand from the baseline goes wide and the Frenchman survives an early scare to hold.

A good opening game to get us going on Centre Court today and if that's a sign of things to come then it's going to be a day full of entertainment.

  13. Muller saves break point to holdpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 0-1 Muller

A good hold to settle any of Alexandre Muller's nerves as Carlos Alcaraz hits a forehand well wide.

  14. Postpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Alcaraz 0-0 Muller*

An ace to start with for Alexandre Muller. Not a bad way to introduce yourself to Centre Court.

Errors by both players bring us to 30-30, but Carlos Alcaraz gets the first break point.

But it's saved by Muller and we head to deuce.

  15. Postpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Gracheva 5-2 Sabalenka*

A stroke of luck for Aryna Sabalenka as pure power gets a shot to bundle over the net on deuce.

She brings up a third break point in this game but then goes long with her forehand.

Varvara Gracheva is far from intimidated by the world number two, digging out another first serve and forcing the error from Sabalenka.

Her variety has got the Belarusian on the back foot and Gracheva happily closes out.

One game from the first set.

Wimbledon has arrived. Like, properly arrived.

The sun is belting out, the mercury has shot up and the excitement is sky-high.

The enterprising folk of SW19 are taking full advantage of the weather this afternoon.

A barber's shop close to Southfields station has set up a stall of panama hats - not sure what that says about the trims they dish out.

Further up Wimbledon Park Road, another makeshift millinery is pitched up at the end of a house's driveway.

And if you're dishing out your hard-earned coin, you need to make sure it looks the part.

Good job there is a full-length mirror to check yourself out.

Here we go as Carlos Alcaraz and Alexandre Muller kick off the action on Centre Court.

The world number 84 Muller will serve first to get us started.

    Jess Anderson

The sun is absolutely belting down over here on Court One but thankfully for me the press seats are in the shade so I can actually sit comfortably.

Second seed Sabalenka, however, is struggling here as Varvara Gracheva brings up three break points. Then, Sabalenka fires wide to gift the break.

Not quite in perfect form here, the Belarusian.

  19. Sabalenka broken againpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Gracheva* 4-2 Sabalenka

    Well, well.

Aryna Sabalenka looks a bit frustrated as she's sloppy with her serve and her forehand to present Varvara Gracheva with 0-40.

The 22-year-old seals the break of serve too, and again it is thanks to an unforced error as Sabalenka thrashes a wild forehand off target.

  20. Alcaraz, Sabalenka, Berrettini in actionpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

Men's world number one Carlos Alcaraz coming up on Centre Court.

Women's second seed Aryna Sabalenka already under way on Court One.

The likes of Holger Rune, Alexander Zverev, Lorenzo Musetti and Matteo Berrettini currently in action elsewhere around the grounds.
