    Long from Daniil Medvedev!

Hubert Hurkacz, from 4-2 down, takes the fourth set to force a decider on Rod Laver Arena.

The crowd are very, very happy with that. Who knows which way this will go now...

    *Medvedev 7-6 (7-4) 2-6 6-3 5-6 Hurkacz

A huge ace from Hubert Hurkacz completes another hold.

The Pole is an intriguing mix of big hitting and sneaky shot-making, comfortable to rely on either as and when he requires.

It's certainly causing Daniil Medvedev a few headaches.

He's guaranteed at least a tie-break here, but can he force a fifth set?

Not sure I've ever seen Hurkacz so animated.

Lots of expression from the ninth seed, who is regularly interacting with the vast number of Polish fans in the crowd.

Many are wearing 'Polska' t-shirts and red-and-white hats of all varieties - baseball caps, bucket hats, visors - plus waving their national flag after each winning point for their man.

At the moment he's got the slight momentum but Medvedev is working hard to slow it down.

    Medvedev 7-6 (7-4) 2-6 6-3 5-5 Hurkacz*

Hubert Hurkacz blasts a backhand winner into the corner for deuce. There's no denying he's the more aggressive player right now.

Denied by another Hurkacz winner, Medvedev dusts himself down and refocuses to get the job done, although he has to hold his nerve in another tricky exchange to do so.

    *Medvedev 7-6 (7-4) 2-6 6-3 4-5 Hurkacz

Hubert Hurkacz looks confident and full of belief.

The ninth seed extends his run of points to six as he earns a comfortable hold to hit the front in the fourth.

Daniil Medvedev can't quite believe he'll have to serve to stay in the set.

  7. Hurkacz breaks backpublished at 05:55 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

    Medvedev 7-6 (7-4) 2-6 6-3 4-4 Hurkacz*

A significant service game for two-time finalist Daniil Medvedev now, with a semi-final spot in his sights.

However, the third seed, contesting his 100th Grand Slam match today, double-faults to give Hubert Hurkacz hope - and the Pole lands a forehand winner for a break point.

    Into the net from Medvedev!

Hurkacz punches the air. He's right back in this fourth set.

    *Medvedev 7-6 (7-4) 2-6 6-3 4-3 Hurkacz

A delightful passing shot from Hurkacz at the net helps the ninth seed to 40-15 but Daniil Medvedev is searching for the killer blow here.

The Russian wins a couple of points to really put the pressure on Hurkacz - but the Pole finds his serve and survives to stay within reach.

    Medvedev 7-6 (7-4) 2-6 6-3 4-2 Hurkacz*

Daniil Medvedev is on course to respond to Hurkacz's brilliant service game with a love hold of his own until a double fault halts his progress.

Not to worry. The Russian forces Hurkacz into the net to move two games away.

    Blimey.

    A clean-weep for Hubert Hurkacz!

Four successive aces - making it six in a row for the Pole - settle the game without allowing Daniil Medvedev a hit to maintain pressure.

    Medvedev 7-6 (7-4) 2-6 6-3 3-1 Hurkacz*

Medvedev isn't able to close out the game at the second time of asking either, but Hurkacz runs out or responses as the Russian takes an entertaining game to edge closer to victory.

Terrific work by Daniil Medvedev on a big point. Having been followed to 30-30 by Hubert Hurkacz, the third seed gets his opponent moving and follows up a drop shot with a finishing backhand.

The danger has not passed just yet, though. Hurkacz can sense an opportunity after making a forehand for deuce.

  13. Medvedev on track for semi-finalspublished at 05:32 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

    *Medvedev 7-6 (7-4) 2-6 6-3 2-1 Hurkacz

Third seed Daniil Medvedev looks well on his way to a third Australian Open semi-final.

The Russian won the third set with a single break against Hubert Hurkacz not that long ago, having dropped a frustrating second set after edging the first in a tie-break.

But he is already a break up in the fourth set on Rod Laver Arena as he looks to set up a last-four meeting with either Carlos Alcaraz or Alexander Zverev.
