Here's another funky video for your perusal. In this little number, classic moments from Winter Olympics history have been recreated in toy form - including Torvill and Dean's 1984 Bolero routine, Eddie "the Eagle" Edwards' memorable appearance in Calgary in 1988, and Amy Williams' gold medal in the skeleton in 2010.

So who are Billy Morgan and Jamie Nicholls, who will be representing GB in the snowboard slopestyle final?

Morgan is 24 and from Southampton and started riding after a school skiing trip as a teenager. He snapped both his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial cruciate ligament in September 2013, and will be competing in Sochi without an ACL.

Nicholls is 20 and from Yorkshire and had his first experience of snowboarding aged eight.

You can find out more about snowboard slopestyle on the BBC Sport website.

"Two Team GB finalists is fantastic news for the British ski and snowboard set-up.

"Whist the team clearly want a medal, essentially given the squad is so young, UK Sport are likely to look at medal potential for the 2018 Olympics when they decide on future funding - rather than podium finishes here in Russia.

"So on day one of the Sochi Games Billy Morgan, 24, and Jamie Nicholls, 20, (through his performance in Thursday's qualification) could already have secured the sport funding for another four years."

Reigning world champions USA thrashed Finland 6-0 in Vancouver but suffered a shock defeat to them at the Four Nations Cup last year. It was their first defeat against anyone other than Canada since 2008, which suggests the Finns may be improving. But anything other than an USA win would be a huge shock.

How's about that then? It's certainly got my adrenaline pumping on this cold winter's morn. Next up, it's ice hockey and the first women's quarter-final between 2010 Olympic silver medallists USA and Finland 08:00 GMT. You'll be able to watch that on the Red Button, online and on mobile devices.

Bad news for Maggie Voisin. The 15-year-old, who was set to become USA's youngest Olympic Winter Games athlete since 1972, has had to pull out of women's ski slopestyle.

Voisin, who won silver at the X Games in Aspen, Colorado, last month, injured her right ankle on a rail feature during training on Friday and will not compete on Tuesday.

"So many big names missing out on the finals. A lot has been learned by these riders in the semi-final and the coaches will be telling the riders in the final to go massive. It has been a dramatic morning with Billy Morgan the stand-out with a textbook run and he has a bigger jump left in the final."

Seppe Smits of Belgium scores 84.50 to miss out on the all important fourth place by 0.25. The square-jawed Charles 'Chaz' Guldemond of the USA is the last rider to run. A quadruple flip looks good but it's only a 79.75 and he's going home.

So the four riders through to the 12-man final are Billy Morgan (GB), Sage Kotsenburg (USA), Mark McMorris (Canada) and Yuki Kadono (Japan).

  11. Morgan through to snowboard slopestyle finalpublished at 07:02 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2014

They call Morgan the janitor because he has a habit of cleaning up. He pulls off a backside rodeo and a switch triple before making a mess of his last jump. His score is only 35.50, but that won't matter. He's through to the final along with Jamie Nicholls, and Great Britain will have a fantastic chance of landing the first medal of the Games. That final takes place from 0845 GMT - and you can watch all the drama unfold on the BBC.

Canada's Mark McMorris, one of the big favourites for gold, produces a storming run and the commentators are convinced he will take first place. But his score of 89.25 is only good enough for third. And Morgan's place in the final is secure!

Five riders left to go. Only four will progress from the semi-finals - to join the eight who went through automatically after yesterday's qualification round - thus making a 12-strong final.

"British snowboard slopestyler Billy Morgan is in a great position here.

"He will be the third to last athlete to go in the semi-finals, so he may well know whether he's in the final by the time he sets off.

"If he is through, he can coast through the run, if not - it's one last chance to go big and improve on his impressive first round score of 90.75."

Jan Scherrer of Switzerland stacks it badly in the second section and slides down the latter part of the course on his hands and knees. He won't be telling his grandchildren about his score of 23.50. We are halfway through the second run and Billy Morgan is still top of the shop with his score of 90.75.
