Visit our Get Inspired page for details on how to get involved in luge.

    Why luge?

Luge has many benefits, though they may not initially be clear to you when standing at the top of the run for the first time.

Given the confined space in which lugers operate, any small movement is key - so the sport encourages strong movement skills along with improved agility, balance, and coordination.

Strength and conditioning are essential to withstand the speeds and G-forces encountered as you progress in the sport.

Might be worth thinking about in a few year's time, Louise.

    Luge: Men's singles

This is how it stands at the halfway point in the men's luge singles.

Germany's Felix Loch, who has won this event at the past two Winter Olympics, is well placed to make it three in a row. He holds a 0.188 second lead over Austria's David Gleirscher, who had been leading at the end of run one.

The last two runs take place tomorrow when Loch may well be getting his hands on more gold.

Great British pair Adam Rosen and Rupert Staudinger are 24th and 33rd respectively.

    Snowboarding: Men's slopestyle

British snowboarder Jamie Nicholls has told of his disappointment after falling in his second run and failing to make the slopestyle final.

"This picture perfectly sums up how I felt today," he posted on Instagram.

"Gutted sometimes things don't go your way, but today I felt like it did, until I saw my score come in.

"This is competitive snowboarding and how it goes sometimes. But it only makes you stronger and want to come back and smash it even harder next time.

"The negatives today were out of my control but the positives were I put down a run that I was happy with."

I think it’s fair to say forward Alina Muller is Switzerland’s star player from the first half - she’s scored four of their five goals against the unified Koreans in this women’s hockey group match. Phoebe Staenz grabbed the fifth.

So Jung Shin, the Korean goalkeeper, has been under the cosh for most of the game but it hasn’t stopped the crowd screaming with delight on the rare times the hosts have attacked.

  18. 'I am devastated'published at 12:52 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2018

Short track speed skating: Women's 500m

Great Britain's Charlotte Gilmartin, who crashed in the short track speed skating 500m heats earlier today, has been talking to BBC Sport. She says: "I kept getting injured or making false starts so I've been working on a new start in recent weeks so I was pleased I committed to it even after the re-start.

"I had the speed and I was feeling good but then someone stole my place so I was in two minds. I'm devastated obviously to come away with a penalty but I train every day to get that right and it just didn't happen today.

"I think it was a 50-50 call. I was ahead but you can't fight the decision. I'm upset I don't get to continue but I'm grateful for all the support I have received. I hope I can make up for it.

"I've got a sore rib but my legs are fine and that's the important thing! I gained confidence and had a lot of speed so I can take it on the ice for the next race."
