Winter Olympics 2018: Elise Christie - from zero to hero in South Korea

One of Britain's best medal chances - Elise Christie - gets her third Olympic campaign under way in the short track 500m qualifiers.

It was in this event in Sochi that she crossed the line in second place in the final, only to be disqualified for causing two other competitors to fall over in a chaotic race. She went on to suffer two further disqualifications and went home without a medal.

But four years later, the Scottish 27-year-old is now a triple World Champion and appeared very relaxed at training earlier this week, despite the big media attention.

"Training's been good, the ice is good, and the team morale seems really high so it's been fun so far. I'm enjoying it," she said.

Christie goes in heat four at approximately 10:50 GMT, with team-mates Kat Thomson and Charlotte Gilmartin in heats two and eight respectively.

He's got a cool name and a trendy pony tail - but what else do we know about short-track skater Farrell Treacy?

The 22-year-old competed at junior world championships for his country but this is his first Olympics. Apparently his guilty food is soft cheese and he really likes Iron Man.

Look out for Treacy in the first heat of the men's 1500m from 10:00 GMT.

Short Track Speed Skating (men's 1500m from 10:00 GMT)

The absence of South Korea-born Russian six-time Olympic champion Viktor Ahn is a boost for the host nation in the 1500m.

The battle between their 1500m world champion Sin Da-woon and overall world champion Seo Yi-ra is likely to be one of the highlights of the Games.

The heats, semi-finals and final all take place in a two-and-a-half hour period. Not much time to recover for the athletes involved.

    Luge (Men's singles, 10:10 GMT)

Coming up a little later is the men's luge. British duo AJ Rosen and Rupert Staudinger will be competing.

Rosen is used to the Olympic stage as it's his third time competing in the tournament. He holds the record for the best ever British Luge finish, which was sixth place in the World Cup in Calgary, Canada, in 2009. The track where the movie Cool Runnings is based...

For Staudinger, 20, it's his first Olympic Games.

They aren't considered one of the favourites but there's plenty of big names in the race including double Olympic champion Felix Loch.
