Excellent stuff Rich, many thanks.
This competition is licking along at a fair pace now. Sarah Henrickson still leads. For context, her jump of 88, is about 90% the length of Big Ben.
If you laid it down, obviously.

Hi Tom, more used to reading your football comments.. on the subject of Ski jumping: ski jumpers start young, small jumps, then short hills, finally in to the big stuff. Tignes is a great example. If you've never stood at the foot of a ski jump, try it there. They've got several. A lot of junior ski racers will do ski jumping too, just to remove the element of fear on the steeps.
Rich, Hale.
Women's normal hill final
Stylish and long from American Sarah Hendrickson, she sails out to 88m and takes the lead.

David Talbott: Not very consistent officiating at these games. The wind has to be the same for everybody in the ski jump for it to be fair, but for the women’s slopestyle it was a total lottery!
Women's normal hill final
We are back under way, Ursa Bogotaj is not happy with her jump. The wind seemed to push her to one side.
Women's normal hill final
Ursa Bogataj is being held at the top of the jump thanks to some unhelpful wind. She is wrapped in a towel but it must be absolutely freezing. Not a place to be held up.
The athletes get points for distance and for style.

We're away!
Leaf blowers are being used at the top of the jump to clear some of the fresh snow. My word that's high. I feel a bit sick.
Has anyone out there ever tried this?!
Chang Xinyue of China leads after five jumpers, out of 30.

Sarah Kenny: Catching up with the women's slopestyle final on BBC this lunchtime. Shocked that it was allowed to run in those conditions- such a shame for the sport.
Matt Mackenzie: Definitely have to make it my goal to go to the 2022 Winter Olympics!

How on earth do you try ski jumping for the first time?*Absolutely terrifying.
First to go is Abby Ringquist of the US. We are running a bit behind.
Luge: Women's singles
A day after Felix Loch's shock meltdown, Germany's peerless luge team got back on track as reigning champion Natalie Geisenberger emerged in the gold medal position after Monday's opening runs of the women's singles.
"Yesterday we saw what could happen if you make a little mistake and you have a big, big, big time losing," she said.
"It was hard for us yesterday because I trained with Felix Loch for almost 20 years. We had so many successes.
"We've been in Sochi, in the team relay, Olympic champions. It was hard.
"That's sport, that's life, such mistakes can happen. My goal for me tomorrow is hopefully that it will not happen."
