Some of the athletes have earphones on as they compete in the halfpipe - what's on the playlist?

"On my last run I had AC/DC. The run before that I had Creedence Clearwater on," said Scotty James

"It really depends on how I'm feeling. Sometimes I like to listen to rap. I'm on the classic rock '70s buzz at the moment, so I've been running that.

"It's probably the first five seconds of my drop-in where I'm listening to the music and then I go into complete tunnel vision where I can't hear a thing other than me talking to myself during my run."

The 27-year-old Scottish skater is one of Team GB's best hopes for a medal in Pyeongchang, so it makes perfect sense to get behind one of our own and cheer her on.

We love nothing more than to root for home-grown talent, so join in the hype and you won't regret it.

Four years since Elise Christie was disqualified in all three of her events and endured both online abuse and death threats after a collision with a South Korean skater, she finally has the chance to write a happier chapter in Olympic history.

Pyeongchang will be Christie's third Games and, having used therapy to overcome the emotional struggles that plagued her after Sochi, she enters these Olympics with genuine medal potential at all three distances.

The Scot is the current world champion and world record holder over 500m, but knows the home crowd will be against her in the sport's spiritual home.

Her quarter-final is scheduled for 10:02 GMT, the semi-finals start at 11:11 and the final is due at 12:09.

The second heat begins in around 10 minutes' time.

Fellow Brits Laura Deas and Lizzy Yarnold have also enjoyed really good training runs so far in Pyeongchang. Deas finished top at the end of yesterday's training and defending champion Yarnold topped today's practice - their fourth run so far.

The men's skeleton heats run Thursday-Friday while the women compete Friday-Saturday.
