It wasn't looking pretty at the beginning of this end but some good shots from Anna and Eve, along with mistakes from Japan, have meant the game has really changed.

Eve Muirhead has delivered her final stone of this fourth end. Delicately, it comes to the centre of the house, meaning GB are lying three shots. Japan either take one, or take a hit.

They may have been 12th in the two-man event but GB Bobsleigh have always talked up their prospects in the four-man event - as GB have much better technology in the larger sleds.

“We’ve seen all their (British Skeleton’s) success and it’s been brilliant to watch, but we aim to emulate that,” Hall tells me.

“We two have genuine medal chances for the four-man crews in that event because we’ve both won medals at the World Cup this season.

“We believe in ourselves and one another!”

    Men's halfpipe qualification

Both Murray Buchan and Peter Speight have been pushed out of the top 12. Buchan will get another run, but Speight's chances of reaching the final are over.

Lots of shouting from Eve Muirhead. Vicki Adams looks a little miffed. There are two yellow stones surrounding one red in the house. I'm not sure what the Japanese is for "sweep hard", but I'm pretty sure that is what they are saying.

If you missed it earlier, we caught a glimpse of Elise Christie back on the ice after the ankle injury she suffered in the 1500m on Saturday.

Watch this and judge for yourself if she'll be good to go in today's heats of the 1000m.

It's just not quite working yet for Eve Muirhead and her team. They're still very much involved in this match but the hammer passes now to Japan who can regain their advantage and you wouldn't want that gap growing much more by the half-way mark.

It's not quite happening for GB at the moment. The chance for two is wasted - the two hammers have only yielded two points - and now Japan have the advantage of the final stone once more. Muirhead's rink have to work hard to turn this one around.

Incredible, physics-defying stuff from the Japanese skip somehow disturbs both British stones. A 7-10 split. Muirhead can still pick up a couple, though...

GB have the chance for a couple here. There are two red stones in the house. Japan can either remove one of them, or try to get inside them. Even then, Britain will have another stone...

Japan are bringing the fire and brimstone. One a few occasions in this end they have employed cannon-ball tactics, with varying degrees of success. They are looking to keep the house as free of bricks as possible, to keep GB's hammer-advantage to a minimum.

How difficult is it to sweep and slide? I must be tricky not to hit your stone with your broom. Where do you get the slidey shoes from? Or are they normal shoes that have been doctored?

And how cold is it on the ice?

Well that's a disappointing start to the game for Great Britain, I don't think anyone can say they've played a good end there.

Britain are going to have to work hard to pull that back. There's a long way to go here, but it already looks like a game that GB will be chasing. Japan have put themselves into a brilliant position for qualifying.

Not a great start for GB. Only one point when they had the hammer, now giving away three in the second end. Eve Muirhead might have erred with her final stone, but she was pressured by what had gone before her. Britain are behind the eight-ball.

Friends Dorothea Gleeson and Mary Rowland are enjoying the Winter Olympics, courtesy of winning a competition with one of the main sponsors.

"I've never won anything in my life so can't believe we're here but we're absolutely loving it," says Dorothea.

"I had tickets to London 2012 but I've never been to a Winter Olympics before."

Mary added: "After the ski halfpipe we're off to short track to see Elise Christie and we've got figure skating and ice hockey tomorrow."
