    Steve Cram
    Curling commentator on BBC TV

It was a brilliant effort to get the bronze last Olympics in Sochi, but right from the beginning today, we said this would be tougher.

GB have come up against a Japan team, who can win the first ever curling Olympic medal for their country.

Five stones left for Great Britain. At the moment they need something good to save this one and force an extra end, or better.

Curling: Women's bronze medal game - Great Britain 3-4 Japan (after nine ends)

    Caroline Chapman
    BBC Sport in Pyeongchang

A big turn of events. Japan lead for the first time and it's split the crowd.

The Japanese fans are clapping heartily with appreciation, before a woop and a holler from the British end arrives to gee Team Muirhead along.

    This is tense.

  7. 'The girls will have played this scenario out many times'published at 13:22 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2018

Curling: Women's bronze medal game Great Britain 3-4 Japan (after nine ends)

    Jackie Lockhart
Four-time Olympic curler on BBC TV

That's okay. The girls will have played this scenario out many times, being one up in the last end, being one down in the last end.

But GB do crucially have the hammer in the 10th end, they just need to create the two.

  8. Japan ahead for the first timepublished at 13:22 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2018

Curling: Women's bronze medal game - Great Britain 3-4 Japan (after nine ends)

Oohs and aahs from the crowd. Eve Muirhead's last stone of the ninth end and she is looking to crash one of her other stones into another one and then take out the yellow stone of Japan that is in the house.

Part one is good, part two misses. And Japan, with only one end left, move into the lead for the very first time in this match.

Great Britain have the hammer, so will have the last stone. Can they force an extra end, can they produce something special and win the bronze or will they lose it in end 10? All three options are possible.

Nat: I feel like curling is a sport I could do. I mean sure; I fall over on ice, would struggle with the weight of the stones and have absolutely no co-ordination but I'd be really good at looking angry and shouting at my team-mates.

Curling: Women's bronze medal game Great Britain 3-3 Japan (after eight ends)

    Jackie Lockhart
Four-time Olympic curler on BBC TV

If Japan keep placing shots in the house, they're forcing GB to knock them out and take a one, giving them the hammer in the 10th end. But it's still so cagey out there.

Curling: Women's bronze medal game Great Britain 3-3 Japan (after eight ends)

That's a good result for GB, just one for Japan. It's been tic-for-tac all game, and it's all tied up now.

GB have the hammer, so I think they'd like to blank it here, and take the hammer in the 10th. But Japan won't make it easy for them, it's going to be about who executes their shots better.

  17. gold-medal

Gold Medal - Lee Seung-Hoon (South Korea)published at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2018

Speed skating: Men's mass start final

Home gold. Gold for Lee Seung-Hoon, to the delight of the home fans with a great noise coming from them as Lee crosses the line

Netherlands' Sven Kramer was out in front, and withdrew with one lap to go, hoping that his countryman Koen Verweij can do the business, but he is outsprinted by Lee and Belgium's Bart Swings, who takes the silver with Verweij in bronze medal position.

Curling: Women's bronze medal game - Great Britain 3-3 Japan (after eight ends)

After a couple of blank ends, Japan take one in end eight to make it 3-3. It is not as many as they were hoping for, but it is good news for Eve Muirhead and the British team.

This match is now a two-end shootout for the bronze. Can anyone make a decisive move? Stay with us and find out.
