The Japanese team are the ones with the smiles on their faces. They are behind on the scoreboard, but maybe edging the tactical battle.

Curling: Women's bronze medal game Great Britain 3-2 Japan (after seven ends)

    Steve Cram
    Curling commentator on BBC TV

As well as Japan have played, Japan have to score at some point. That's two blanked ends now, and if they don't score again here they'll have the hammer in the ninth, which they don't want.

I've not seen as tense an affair all week as this one - it's enthralling - there is so much tension out there.

We have a bit of life in the Great Britain end of the arena.

They've broken out into a rendition of 'you are my sunshine'. I feel like joining in to try and help their cause.

Curling: Women's bronze medal game Great Britain 3-2 Japan (after seven ends)

    Steve Cram

Three ends to go and Japan will have the hammer in the eighth and possibly the 10th. But there were a few good shots from Eve Muirhead there, and this game is very much there for the taking.

  6. GB still leadpublished at 12:52 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2018

Curling: Women's bronze medal game - Great Britain 3-2 Japan (after seven ends)

Japan are playing the long game here. They blank the seventh end, just as they did in the sixth. They keep the hammer (have the last stone) in end eight and maybe again in the 10th end.

However, it is a risky strategy and Great Britain still have the lead 3-2 overall. Tight, tense, nerve-wracking.

Three ends to go. If Great Britain can stay ahead then the bronze medal is theirs.

Canada on course for bronzepublished at 12:50 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2018

Ice hockey: Men's bronze medal game - Czech Republic 1-3 Canada (in first period)

Canada have won the gold medal in three of the past four Games in the men's ice hockey.

They won't be getting that this year after losing to Germany in the semi-finals yesterday, but they are on course for a bronze as they lead 3-1 against Czech Republic in the first period.

GB would love to force Japan into taking the one here, then get the hammer in the next end, and get two ahead going into the final two ends. It won't be easy though.

Lee Fergusson: This is going to be one tense second half in the curling.

Grant: If curling more about the screaming than the precision of the stones then the Japanese would be smashing it.

Matt Rhodes: This is some tense curling.

Irene Schouten of the Netherlands takes the bronze medal.

It is the second gold medal of the Games for Takagi, who also won gold in the team pursuit event.

  15. A tactical move from Japan?published at 12:35 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2018

Curling: Women's bronze medal game - Great Britain 3-2 Japan (after six ends)

A slight advantage for Japan? They have the hammer in the sixth end and it is a blank end, meaning they retain the hammer for the seventh end and will be trying to then take two in that end.

Great Britain's Eve Muirhead was disappointed when she missed a similar opportunity. Will Japan's tactics pay off? This next end, the seventh, could well be the most important one of this bronze medal final.

Very good shot from Eve Muirhead, and it's very, very unlucky. GB pick up one, so it's not quite the result they wanted there, they would have loved to go in to the half-time break with a two.
