    Curling women's semi-final: Great Britain 0-0 Sweden

All very cagey and sedate to start off with - the cheers from the South Korea fans aside.

Sweden blank the end and keep the hammer for the second.

"Leave!" yells Eve Muirhead as she slides her penultimate stone down, clearing a Swedish rock out of the way and landing her stone in the red zone.

And her opponent Anna Hasselborg promptly tonks it out of the way.

It's a lot more vocal on sheet A between South Korea and Japan. And it feels like all eyes in the arena are on them.

The main sound you can hear from sheet C is the clashing of granite as Sweden and GB knock each other's stones about.

Sweden vice-skip Sara McManus is the daughter of Stuart McManus, the Scottish footballer who played for Southampton in the 1980s before moving to Sweden.

That's my fun fact of the day for you, as GB plonk a guard on the edge of the house, and Sweden knock it away.

    Here's Eve Muirhead...

Practice slides down the ice, a talk from the skip, a fiddle with the shoes and an examination of the stones.

Great Britain have the first stone.

    Here we go.

In case you’ve not seen the beginning of the curling before, it’s all very dramatic.

Lights out, movie music, projections on the ice. The full works.

Then the players get a full-on Korean procession leading them out. Oh, and bagpipes of course.

    Curling: women's semi-finals

The South Korean curlers have become accidental superstars during Pyeongchang and the home crowd have taken them into their hearts.

They've been nicknamed 'The Garlic Girls' as they hail from a small region which is famous for its garlic production.

And although many in this country had never heard of curling a few weeks ago, their women's team are now two wins away from a gold medal.

I spoke to their Canadian coach Peter Gallant about their rise to fame.

"The girls are adorable and so much fun to be around," he said

"I'm not surprised by their form. I've tried to convince them that they're good and that they don't have to be intimidated by the top teams.

"I think they're believing that and they have confidence playing against the other teams."

  20. GB target medal tally recordpublished at 10:54 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2018

Great Britain are one medal away from reaching their biggest tally at a Winter Olympics.

UK Sport, which allocates funding for Olympic sports, predicted a total of between four and 10 medals but set a target of at least five.

The funding for this Olympic and Paralympic cycle was over £32m - more than double that for Sochi 2014.

So far, skeleton sliders Lizzy Yarnold, Laura Deas and Dom Parsons, and slopestyle skier Izzy Atkin have picked up Britain's four medals.

Team GB are hoping that fifth medal will come from the women's curling team [semi-final at 11:05 GMT], Snowboarder Billy Morgan in the men's big air [Saturday 01:00 GMT], or the men's four-man bobsleigh [Sunday, 00:05 GMT].
